त्वं वासुदेवो भगवानवतीर्णो जगत्पतिः । इति प्रस्तोभितो बालैर्मेन आत्मानमच्युतम् ॥ १०-६६-२ ॥
Pauṇḍraka was emboldened by the flattery of childish men, who told him, “You are Vāsudeva, the Supreme Lord and master of the universe, who have now descended to the earth.” Thus he imagined himself to be the infallible Personality of Godhead. ॥ 10-66-2 ॥

पौंड्रक को उन बचकाने लोगों की चापलूसी से साहस मिला, जिन्होंने उससे कहा, "आप वासुदेव, सर्वोच्च भगवान और ब्रह्मांड के स्वामी हैं, जो अब पृथ्वी पर अवतरित हुए हैं।" इस प्रकार उन्होंने स्वयं को ईश्वर के अचूक व्यक्तित्व के रूप में कल्पना की। ॥ १०-६६-२ ॥
