पूतना लोकबालघ्नी राक्षसी रुधिराशना । जिघांसयापि हरये स्तनं दत्त्वाऽऽप सद्गतिम् ॥ १०-६-३५ ॥
Pūtanā was always hankering for the blood of human children, and with that desire she came to kill Kṛṣṇa; but because she offered her breast to the Lord, she attained the greatest achievement. ॥ 10-6-35 ॥
english translation
पूतना सदा ही मानव शिशुओं के खून की प्यासी रहती थी और इसी अभिलाषा से वह कृष्ण को मारने आई थी। किन्तु कृष्ण को स्तनपान कराने से उसे सर्वोच्च पद प्राप्त हो गया। ॥ १०-६-३५ ॥
