जन्मादयस्तु देहस्य विक्रिया नात्मनः क्वचित् । कलानामिव नैवेन्दोर्मृतिर्ह्यस्य कुहूरिव ।। १०-५४-४७ ।।

sanskrit

Birth and other transformations are undergone by the body but never by the self, just as change occurs for the moon’s phases but never for the moon, though the new-moon day may be called the moon’s “death.” ।। 10-54-47 ।।

english translation

जन्म और अन्य परिवर्तन शरीर द्वारा होते हैं, लेकिन स्वयं द्वारा कभी नहीं, जैसे चंद्रमा की कलाओं में परिवर्तन होता है, लेकिन चंद्रमा में कभी नहीं, हालांकि अमावस्या के दिन को चंद्रमा की "मृत्यु" कहा जा सकता है। ।। १०-५४-४७ ।।
