नैकत्र प्रियसंवासः सुहृदां चित्रकर्मणाम् । ओघेन व्यूह्यमानानां प्लवानां स्रोतसो यथा ॥ १०-५-२५ ॥
Many planks and sticks, unable to stay together, are carried away by the force of a river’s waves. Similarly, although we are intimately related with friends and family members, we are unable to stay together because of our varied past deeds and the waves of time. ॥ 10-5-25 ॥

लकड़ी के फट्टे और छडिय़ाँ एकसाथ रुकने में असमर्थ होने से नदी की लहरों के वेग से बहा लिए जाते हैं। इसी तरह हम अपने मित्रों तथा सम्बन्धियों से घनिष्ठ सम्बन्ध रखते हुए भी अपने नाना प्रकार के विगत कर्मों तथा काल की लहरों के कारण एकसाथ रहने में असमर्थ होते हैं। ॥ १०-५-२५ ॥
