Srimad Bhagavatam
अस्ति चेदीश्वरः कश्चित्फलरूप्यन्यकर्मणाम् । कर्तारं भजते सोऽपि न ह्यकर्तुः प्रभुर्हि सः ॥ १०-२४-१४ ॥
Even if there is some supreme controller who awards all others the results of their activities, He must also depend upon a performer’s engaging in activity. After all, there is no question of being the bestower of fruitive results unless fruitive activities have actually been performed. ॥ 10-24-14 ॥
english translation
यदि कोई परम नियन्ता हो भी, जो अन्यों को उनके कर्मों का फल प्रदान करता हो तो उसे भी कर्म करने वाले पर आश्रित रहना होगा। वस्तुत: जब तक सकाम कर्म सम्पन्न न हो ले तब तक सकाम कर्मफलों के प्रदाता के अस्तित्व का प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता। ॥ १०-२४-१४ ॥
