सा देवकी सर्वजगन्निवासनिवासभूता नितरां न रेजे । भोजेन्द्रगेहेऽग्निशिखेव रुद्धा सरस्वती ज्ञानखले यथा सती ॥ १०-२-१९ ॥
Devakī then kept within herself the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the cause of all causes, the foundation of the entire cosmos, but because she was under arrest in the house of Kaṁsa, she was like the flames of a fire covered by the walls of a pot, or like a person who has knowledge but cannot distribute it to the world for the benefit of human society. ॥ 10-2-19 ॥

तब देवकी ने समस्त कारणों के कारण, समग्र ब्रह्माण्ड के आधार भगवान् को अपने भीतर रखा किन्तु कंस के घर के भीतर बन्दी होने से वे किसी पात्र की दीवालों से ढकी हुई अग्नि की लपटों की तरह या उस व्यक्ति की तरह थीं जो अपने ज्ञान को जनसमुदाय के लाभ हेतु वितरित नहीं करता। ॥ १०-२-१९ ॥
