अज्ञानसंज्ञौ भवबन्धमोक्षौ द्वौ नाम नान्यौ स्त ऋतज्ञभावात् । अजस्रचित्याऽऽत्मनि केवले परे विचार्यमाणे तरणाविवाहनी ।। १०-१४-२६ ।।

sanskrit

The conception of material bondage and the conception of liberation are both manifestations of ignorance. Being outside the scope of true knowledge, they cease to exist when one correctly understands that the pure spirit soul is distinct from matter and always fully conscious. At that time bondage and liberation no longer have any significance, just as day and night have no significance from the perspective of the sun. ।। 10-14-26 ।।

english translation

भव-बन्धन तथा मोक्ष दोनों ही अज्ञान की अभिव्यक्तियाँ हैं। सच्चे ज्ञान की सीमा के बाहर होने के कारण, इन दोनों का अस्तित्व मिट जाता है जब मनुष्य ठीक से यह समझ लेता है कि शुद्ध आत्मा, पदार्थ से भिन्न है और सदैव पूर्णतया चेतन है। उस समय बन्धन तथा मोक्ष का कोई महत्व नहीं रहता जिस तरह सूर्य के परिप्रेक्ष्य में दिन तथा रात का कोई महत्व नहीं होता। ।। १०-१४-२६ ।।

त्वामात्मानं परं मत्वा परमात्मानमेव च । आत्मा पुनर्बहिर्मृग्य अहोऽज्ञजनताज्ञता ।। १०-१४-२७ ।।

Just see the foolishness of those ignorant persons who consider You to be some separated manifestation of illusion and who consider the self, which is actually You, to be something else, the material body. Such fools conclude that the supreme soul is to be searched for somewhere outside Your supreme personality. ।। 10-14-27 ।।

english translation

जरा उन अज्ञानी पुरुषों की मूर्खता तो देखिये जो आपको मोह की भिन्न अभिव्यक्ति मानते हैं और अपने (आत्मा) को, जो कि वास्तव में आप हैं, अन्य कुछ—भौतिक शरीर—मानते हैं। ऐसे मूर्खजन इस निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचते हैं कि परमात्मा की खोज परम पुरुष आप से बाहर अन्यत्र की जानी चाहिए। ।। १०-१४-२७ ।।

अन्तर्भवेऽनन्त भवन्तमेव ह्यतत्त्यजन्तो मृगयन्ति सन्तः । असन्तमप्यन्त्यहिमन्तरेण सन्तं गुणं तं किमु यन्ति सन्तः ।। १०-१४-२८ ।।

O unlimited Lord, the saintly devotees seek You out within their own bodies by rejecting everything separate from You. Indeed, how can discriminating persons appreciate the real nature of a rope lying before them until they refute the illusion that it is a snake? ।। 10-14-28 ।।

english translation

हे अनन्त भगवान्, सन्तजन आपसे भिन्न हर वस्तु का तिरस्कार करते हुए अपने ही शरीर के भीतर आपको खोज निकालते हैं। निस्सन्देह, विभेद करनेवाले व्यक्ति भला किस तरह अपने समक्ष पड़ी हुई रस्सी की असली प्रकृति को जान सकते हैं जब तक वे इस भ्रम का निराकरण नहीं कर लेते कि यह सर्प है? ।। १०-१४-२८ ।।

My Lord, if one is favored by even a slight trace of the mercy of Your lotus feet, he can understand the greatness of Your personality. But those who speculate to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead are unable to know You, even though they continue to study the Vedas for many years. ।। 10-14-29 ।।

english translation

हे प्रभु, यदि किसी पर आपके चरणकमलों की लेशमात्र भी कृपा हो जाती है, तो वह आपकी महानता को समझ सकता है। किन्तु जो लोग भगवान् को समझने के लिए चिन्तन करते हैं, वे अनेक वर्षों तक वेदों का अध्ययन करते रहने पर भी आपको जान नहीं पाते। ।। १०-१४-२९ ।।

My dear Lord, I therefore pray to be so fortunate that in this life as Lord Brahmā or in another life, wherever I take my birth, I may be counted as one of Your devotees. I pray that wherever I may be, even among the animal species, I can engage in devotional service to Your lotus feet. ।। 10-14-30 ।।

english translation

अत: हे प्रभु, मेरी प्रार्थना है कि मैं इतना भाग्यशाली बन सकूँ कि इसी जीवन में ब्रह्मा के रूप में या दूसरे जीवन में जहाँ कहीं भी जन्म लूँ, मेरी गणना आपके भक्तों में हो। मैं प्रार्थना करता हूँ कि चाहे पशु योनि में ही सही, मैं जहाँ कहीं भी होऊँ, आपके चरणकमलों की भक्ति में लग सकूँ। ।। १०-१४-३० ।।
