वीक्षमाणस्ततो लङ्कां कपिः कृतमनोरथः । वर्धमानसमुत्साहः कार्यशेषमचिन्तयत् ॥ ५-५४-१
With his objectives achieved, the monkey gazed at Lanka with growing zeal and pondered over the remaining work. ॥ 5-54-1॥

vIkSamANastato laGkAM kapiH kRtamanorathaH । vardhamAnasamutsAhaH kAryazeSamacintayat ॥ 5-54-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकिन्नु खल्ववशिष्टं मे कर्तव्यमिह साम्प्रतम् । यदेषां रक्षसां भूयः सन्तापजननं भवेत् ॥ ५-५४-२
'Is there anything still left which can further torment the demons here? ॥ 5-54-2॥

kinnu khalvavaziSTaM me kartavyamiha sAmpratam । yadeSAM rakSasAM bhUyaH santApajananaM bhavet ॥ 5-54-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवनं तावत्प्रमथितं प्रकृष्टा राक्षसा हताः । बलैकदेशः क्षपितश्शेषं दुर्गविनाशनम् ॥ ५-५४-३
'All the trees of the garden are broken, powerful demons have been killed, and a contingent of the army is destroyed. Only the destruction of the citadel is left. ॥ 5-54-3॥

vanaM tAvatpramathitaM prakRSTA rAkSasA hatAH । balaikadezaH kSapitazzeSaM durgavinAzanam ॥ 5-54-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदुर्गे विनाशिते कर्म भवेत्सुखपरिश्रमम् । अल्पयत्नेन कार्येऽस्मिन् मम स्यात्सफलश्श्रमः ॥ ५-५४-४
'If the citadel is destroyed it would be a happy conclusion with a little effort. I can successfully complete my task. ॥ 5-54-4॥

durge vinAzite karma bhavetsukhaparizramam । alpayatnena kArye'smin mama syAtsaphalazzramaH ॥ 5-54-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयो ह्ययं मम लाङ्गूले दीप्यते हव्यवाहनः । अस्य सन्तर्पणं न्याय्यं कर्तुमेभिर्गृहोत्तमैः ॥ ५-५४-५
'It would be proper to satiate this fire at the end of my tail by offering it to these excellent mansions (I shall set fire to these houses).' ॥ 5-54-5॥
