सा तं हरिवरं दृष्ट्वा लङ्का रावणपालिता । स्वयमेवोत्थिता तत्र विकृताननदर्शना ॥ ५-३-२१
Seeing the best of vanaras, the deity of the city of Lanka, ruled by Ravana rose up before him in a distorted form. ॥ 5-3-21॥

sA taM harivaraM dRSTvA laGkA rAvaNapAlitA । svayamevotthitA tatra vikRtAnanadarzanA ॥ 5-3-21
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुरस्तात्कपिवर्यस्य वायुसूनोरतिष्ठत । मुञ्चमाना महानादमब्रवीत्पवनात्मजम् ॥ ५-३-२२
She stood in front of the great vanara, the son of the Wind-god and spoke to him in a loud voice ॥ 5-3-22॥

purastAtkapivaryasya vAyusUnoratiSThata । muJcamAnA mahAnAdamabravItpavanAtmajam ॥ 5-3-22
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकस्त्वं केन च कार्येण इह प्राप्तो वनालय । कथयस्वेह यत्तत्त्वं यावत्प्राणा धरन्ति ते ॥ ५-३-२३
- 'O dweller of the forest, who are you? Why did you come here? Speak the truth about your identity, so long as you hold on to your life. ॥ 5-3-23॥
english translation
kastvaM kena ca kAryeNa iha prApto vanAlaya । kathayasveha yattattvaM yAvatprANA dharanti te ॥ 5-3-23
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन शक्यं खल्वियं लङ्का प्रवेष्टुं वानर त्वया । रक्षिता रावणबलैरभिगुप्ता समन्ततः ॥ ५-३-२४
'O vanara this Lanka is a secret place protected by Ravana's army everywhere. It is surely not possible for you to enter this city'. ॥ 5-3-24॥

na zakyaM khalviyaM laGkA praveSTuM vAnara tvayA । rakSitA rAvaNabalairabhiguptA samantataH ॥ 5-3-24
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ तामब्रवीद्वीरो हनुमानग्रतः स्थिताम् । कथयिष्यामि ते तत्त्वं यन्मां त्वं परिपृच्छसि ॥ ५-३-२५
Then Hanuman who was standing in front of her said, 'I will tell you the truth since you are asking me'. ॥ 5-3-25॥
