असकृद्देवता युद्धे नागगन्धर्वदानवाः । निर्जिताः समरे येन स ते पार्श्वमुपागतः ॥ ५-२३-१६
- ' Know that he who has often defeated gods in war and has vanquished nagas, gandharvas and demons has come to you (seeking your favour). ॥ 5-23-16॥
english translation
asakRddevatA yuddhe nAgagandharvadAnavAH । nirjitAH samare yena sa te pArzvamupAgataH ॥ 5-23-16
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य सर्वसमृद्धस्य रावणस्य महात्मनः । किमद्य राक्षसेन्द्रस्य भार्यात्वं नेच्छसेऽधमे ॥ ५-२३-१७
'O foolish woman why don't you seek the wifehood of a glorious king of demons who has abundance of wealth?' ॥ 5-23-17॥
english translation
tasya sarvasamRddhasya rAvaNasya mahAtmanaH । kimadya rAkSasendrasya bhAryAtvaM necchase'dhame ॥ 5-23-17
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्तु दुर्मुखी नाम राक्षसी वाक्यमब्रवीत् । यस्य सूर्यो न तपति भीतो यस्य च मारुतः ॥ ५-२३-१८
Then an ogress called Durmukhi said these words, 'Afraid of whom the Sun scorches not and strong winds . - ॥ 5-23-18॥
english translation
tatastu durmukhI nAma rAkSasI vAkyamabravIt । yasya sUryo na tapati bhIto yasya ca mArutaH ॥ 5-23-18
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन वाति स्मायतापाङ्गे किं त्वं तस्य न तिष्ठसि । पुष्पवृष्टिं च तरवो मुमुचुर्यस्य वै भयात् ॥ ५-२३-१९
- blow not, O lady of long side glances why don't you yield to him ? Afraid of whom the trees rain flowers - ॥ 5-23-19॥

na vAti smAyatApAGge kiM tvaM tasya na tiSThasi । puSpavRSTiM ca taravo mumucuryasya vai bhayAt ॥ 5-23-19
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशैलाश्च सुभ्रु पानीयं जलदाश्च यदेच्छति । तस्य नैरृतराजस्य राजराजस्य भामिनि । किं त्वं न कुरुषे बुद्धिं भार्यार्थे रावणस्य हि ॥ ५-२३-२०
- even the mountains and clouds release water at his will? O lady of beautiful brows, Ravana is the king of the southwest direction, why don't you wish to be his wife? ॥ 5-23-20॥

zailAzca subhru pAnIyaM jaladAzca yadecchati । tasya nairRtarAjasya rAjarAjasya bhAmini । kiM tvaM na kuruSe buddhiM bhAryArthe rAvaNasya hi ॥ 5-23-20
