स हि देशो नरव्याघ्र प्रशस्तो यज्ञकर्मणि। तस्याश्वचर्यां काकुत्स्थ दृढधन्वा महारथः ॥ १-३९-६
Oh ! tiger among men the region was appropriate for conducting sacrificial acts. Oh ! child, Oh ! descendant of the Kakutsthas, the great charioteer, wielding a strong bow followed the sacrificial horse (in order to protect it) . - ॥ 1-39-6॥
english translation
sa hi dezo naravyAghra prazasto yajJakarmaNi। tasyAzvacaryAM kAkutstha dRDhadhanvA mahArathaH ॥ 1-39-6
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअंशुमानकरोत्तात सगरस्य मते स्थितः । तस्य पर्वणि तं यज्ञं यजमानस्य वासवः ॥ १-३९-७
- the Amshuman ( the grandson of Sagara and the son of exiled Asamanja ) in compliance with Sagara's wish. On the day of a sacred function called ukthyam , ritual of presiding authority ( Saagar ), Vasava (Indra) . - ॥ 1-38-7॥
english translation
aMzumAnakarottAta sagarasya mate sthitaH । tasya parvaNi taM yajJaM yajamAnasya vAsavaH ॥ 1-39-7
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराक्षसीं तनुमास्थाय यज्ञीयाश्वमपाहरत् । ह्रियमाणे तु काकुत्स्थ तस्मिन्नश्वे महात्मनः ॥१-३९-८
- assuming the form of rakshasa, had stolen away Sagara's sacrificial horse. Oh ! son of the Kakutsthas, when the magnanimous king Sagara's sacrificial horse was stolen away - ॥ 1-39-8॥

rAkSasIM tanumAsthAya yajJIyAzvamapAharat । hriyamANe tu kAkutstha tasminnazve mahAtmanaH ॥1-39-8
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउपाध्यायगणाः सर्वे यजमानमथाब्रुवन् । अयं पर्वणि वेगेन यज्ञियाश्वोऽपनीयते ॥१-३९-९
- all the congregations of the Ritviks, the religious-teachers, then spoke to the chief propitiator, Sagara. " On this auspicious day the sacrificial horse has been stolen away suddenly and forcibly. - ॥ 1-39-9॥

upAdhyAyagaNAH sarve yajamAnamathAbruvan । ayaM parvaNi vegena yajJiyAzvo'panIyate ॥1-39-9
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहर्तारं जहि काकुत्स्थ हयश्चैवोपनीयताम् । यज्ञश्च्छिद्रं भवत्येतत्सर्वेषामशिवाय नः ॥ १-३९-१०
- Oh ! Sagara, the descendent of Kakutstha, you kill him who stole the horse, and let that horse be fetched. This hindrance in Vedic-ritual will become inauspicious for all of us - ॥ 1-39-10॥
