Thereafter in the bright dawn, the destroyers of foes, Rama and Lakshmana, arrived at the riverbank of Ganga keeping sage Vishvamitra ahead of them, who has just completed his ritualistic chores of dawn. [1-24-1]

All the highminded ascetics and strict followers of vows secured an auspicious boat for them and addressed Viswamitra, saying:.....- [1-24-2]

"With the princes ahead of you, board the boat. Tread the safe path. Let there be no loss of time." [1-24-3]

english translation

Arohatu bhavAnnAvaM rAjaputrapuraskRtaH | ariSTaM gaccha panthAnaM mA bhUtkAlaviparyayaH || 1-24-3

विश्वामित्रस्तथेत्युक्त्वा तानृषीन्प्रतिपूज्य च | ततार सहितस्ताभ्यां सरितं सागरंगमाम् || १-२४-४

"Be it so", said Viswamitra and paid respect to all those sages. And accompanied by them (Rama and Lakshmana), crossed the river flowing towards the sea. [1-24-4]

On coming to the midstream of water, Rama heard an unusual and increasing noise of gushy waters along with his younger brother,.....- [1-24-5]

tatra zuzrAva vai zabdaM toyasaMrambhavardhitam | madhyamAgamya toyasya tasya zabdasya nizcayam || 1-24-5
