Bharata spoke words in this manner to Rama - "You alone, the knower of probity, be the king." Even though Rama was very benevolent, gracious also, highly famed and with great prowess, - [1-1-36]
न चैच्छत्पितुरादेशाद्राज्यं रामो महाबलः |पादुके चास्य राज्याय न्यासं दत्त्वा पुनः पुनः || १-१-३७
- Rama did not desire kingdom due to father's injunction. Thereafter, by giving his Charan-Paaduka (wooden sandals) to Bharata and entrusting them to represent him for the sake of kingdom- [1-1-37]
-ruled the kingdom from Nandigrama, with an expectation of Rama's arrival. On the departure of Bharata, that splendid Rama, truth-bound, and self-controlled,- [1-1-39]
