तस्मिन्सम्भ्रियमाणे तु राघवस्याभिषेचने । कैकेयी नाम भर्तारमार्या सा याचते वरम् ॥ ३-४७-६
Arrangements for Rama's consecration were on when queen Kaikeyi sought a boon from her husband, the king. [3-47-6]

प्रतिगृह्य तु कैकेयी श्वशुरं सुकृतेन मे । मम प्रव्राजनं भर्तुर्भरतस्याभिषेचनम् ॥ ३-४७-७
Restraining my father-in-law by a good deed once done by her in his respect, one ( boon ) was banishment of my husband and second ( boon ), consecration of Bharata, Kaikeyi . - [3-47-7]
english translation
द्वावयाचत भर्तारं सत्यसन्धं नृपोत्तमम् । नाद्य भोक्ष्ये न च स्वप्स्ये न पास्येच कथञ्चन ॥ ३-४७-८
- besought two boons from him, the truthful and the best of kings ( king Dasaratha ). 'Today, I shall not eat, or sleep or even drink in any way . - [3-47-8]
english translation
एष मे जीवितस्यान्तो रामो यद्यभिषिच्यते । इति ब्रुवाणां कैकेयीं श्वशुरो मे स मानदः ॥ ३-४७-९
- if Rama is consecrated and I shall put an end to my life itself' (said Kaikeyi). While speaking thus, the king, my father-in-law, who respected her . - [3-47-9]

अयाचतार्थैरन्वर्थैर्न च याञ्चां चकार सा । मम भर्तामहातेजा वयसा पञ्चविंशकः ॥ ३-४७-१०
- offered riches. Which she did not accept. My husband who was very bold was twenty five years . - [3-47-10]
