विनिष्पेतुः तदा भूमौ वल्मीकात् इव पन्नगाः । ते भिन्नहृदया भूमौ छिन्नमूला इव द्रुमाः ॥ ३-२०-२१
- they (the arrows) thundered (out of their chests) and plunged into the earth like snakes into snake pit. Like trees cut at the roots they ( the demons ) fell down on earth with their hearts split . - [3-20-21]
english translation
निपेतुः शोणित स्नाता विकृता विगत असवः । तान् दृष्ट्वा पतितान्भूमौ राक्षसी क्रोधमूर्छिता ॥ ३-२०-२२
- their bodies drenched in blood, disfigured and lifeless. Seeing them ( the demons ) fallen on the ground, the demoness wild with anger . - [3-20-22]
english translation
परित्रस्ता पुनस्तत्र व्यसृजद्भैरवस्वनान् । उपगम्य खरं सा तु किञ्चित्संशुष्कशोणिता । पपात पुनरेवार्ता सनिर्यासेव सल्लकी ॥ ३-२०-२३
- and fear roared again with frightening sound. Her blood slightly dried up, she came back afflicted to Khara and fell down again like a sallaki ( a creeper ), its sap oozing. [3-20-23]
english translation
भ्रातुः समीपे शोकार्ता ससर्ज निनदं मुहुः । सस्वरं मुमुचे बाष्पं विषण्णवदना तदा ॥ ३-२०-२४
Then desperately screaming and shedding tears with a sad face beside her brother, she roared again and again. [3-20-24]
english translation
निपातितान् दृश्य रणे तु राक्षसान् प्रधाविता शूर्पणखा पुनस्ततः । वधं च तेषां निखिलेन रक्षसां शशंस सर्वं भगिनी खरस्य सा ॥ ३-२०-२५
When Surpanakha saw the demons fall dead on the battleground, she ran to Khara, her brother and told in detail about the death of the demons. [3-20-25]
