कर्णनासाक्षियुक्तानि विपरीतानि वीक्षते | यथादोषं च रज्येत दृष्टिर्दोषे बलीयसि ||१२||

The vision perceives inverted forms associated with the ears, nose, and eyes, and as the defect worsens, the vision itself becomes more impaired.

अधःस्थिते समीपस्थं दूरस्थं चोपरिस्थिते | पार्श्वस्थिते तथा दोषे पार्श्वस्थानि न पश्यति ||१३||

The vision fails to perceive the nearby or distant objects below, as well as those situated above or to the sides, when there is a defect in the vision affecting these areas.

जब दृष्टि दोष इन क्षेत्रों को प्रभावित करता है तो दृष्टि नीचे की ओर स्थित निकटवर्ती या दूर की वस्तुओं के साथ-साथ ऊपर या बगल में स्थित वस्तुओं को भी देखने में विफल हो जाती है।

समन्ततः स्थिते दोषे सङ्कुलानीव पश्यति | दृष्टिमध्यगते दोषे स एकं मन्यते द्विधा ||१४||

When the defect in vision is spread throughout, the person sees things as if they are mixed or confused. When the defect is situated in the central part of the vision, the individual perceives one object as two.

जब दृष्टि दोष पूरे शरीर में फैल जाता है, तो व्यक्ति को चीजें ऐसी दिखाई देती हैं जैसे वे मिश्रित या उलझी हुई हों। जब दोष दृष्टि के मध्य भाग में होता है, तो व्यक्ति एक वस्तु को दो के रूप में देखता है।

द्विधास्थिते त्रिधा पश्येद्बहुधा चानवस्थिते | तिमिराख्यः स वै दोषः... | ... चतुर्थं पटलं गतः ||१५||

When the defect is situated in two places, the person sees three forms; when it is situated in many places, they perceive numerous forms; and when it is not located in any fixed place, the condition is known as 'Timira' (night blindness). This defect occurs when the vision reaches the fourth stage.

जब यह दोष दो स्थानों पर होता है, तो व्यक्ति को तीन रूप दिखाई देते हैं; जब यह कई स्थानों पर होता है, तो उसे अनेक रूप दिखाई देते हैं; और जब यह किसी निश्चित स्थान पर नहीं होता, तो इस स्थिति को 'तिमिरा' (रतौंधी) कहते हैं। यह दोष तब होता है जब दृष्टि चौथी अवस्था में पहुँच जाती है।
