त्र्यवस्थश्च मदो ज्ञेयः पूर्वो मध्योऽथ पश्चिमः । पूर्वे वीर्यरतिप्रीतिहर्षभाष्यादिवर्धनम् ॥११॥

Intoxication is understood to have three stages: the initial, the intermediate, and the final. In the initial stage, it enhances vigor, sexual desire, pleasure, joy, and speech.

प्रलापो मध्यमे मोहो युक्तायुक्तक्रियास्तथा । विसञ्ज्ञः पश्चिमे शेते नष्टकर्मक्रियागुणः ॥१२॥

In the intermediate stage, there is delirium and confusion, accompanied by disordered actions. In the final stage, the person becomes unconscious, losing the ability to perform any actions or functions.

श्लैष्मिकानल्पपित्तांश्च स्निग्धान्मात्रोपसेविनः । पानं न बाधतेऽत्यर्थं विपरीतांस्तु बाधते ॥१३॥

Those with a predominance of phlegm (Shleshmika), a small amount of bile (Pitta), and those who consume wine in moderation, are not harmed by it excessively. However, those who consume it in excess may suffer from the opposite effects.

Wine that is consumed in isolation, without food, and continuously by a person, will cause severe disturbances in the body and may even lead to the deterioration of the physical health.

यदि शराब को अकेले, बिना भोजन के, तथा लगातार किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा पीया जाए, तो इससे शरीर में गंभीर गड़बड़ी पैदा हो सकती है, तथा शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य भी बिगड़ सकता है।

क्रुद्धेन भीतेन पिपासितेन शोकाभितप्तेन बुभुक्षितेन । व्यायामभाराध्वपरिक्षतेन वेगावरोधाभिहतेन चापि ॥१५॥

Wine consumed by a person who is angry, frightened, thirsty, distressed by sorrow, hungry, fatigued from physical exertion, or overwhelmed by vigorous activities, will cause harm to the body and mind.

क्रोधित, भयभीत, प्यासे, दुःख से व्यथित, भूखे, शारीरिक परिश्रम से थके हुए या तीव्र गतिविधियों से अभिभूत व्यक्ति द्वारा पी गई शराब शरीर और मन को हानि पहुंचाएगी।
