अत्यम्लभक्ष्यावततोदरेण साजीर्णभुक्तेन तथाऽबलेन | उष्णाभितप्तेन च सेव्यमानं करोति मद्यं विविधान् विकारान् ||२६||

Wine consumed after eating very sour food, or by a person who has overeaten, is weak, or suffering from heat, causes various disorders in the body and mind.

Excessive consumption of wine, which is caused by an imbalance of air (Vata), results in symptoms such as stiffness of the limbs (stambha), pain in the body, heart palpitations (mardha), tremors (gathodaka), headache, excessive sweating, delirium (pralapa), dryness of the mouth, burning sensation in the body, fainting, and yellowing of the face and eyes due to the dominance of bile (pitta). These are the signs of wine intoxication that arise when there is an imbalance in the body’s humors, particularly bile (pitta).

In the case of excessive consumption of wine, which is dominated by the element of phlegm (Kapha), the resulting symptoms include vomiting, coldness, excessive sweating, and an accumulation of all types of bodily disorders. It leads to a sense of heaviness in the body, lack of taste, increased phlegm, loss of appetite, and disturbances in the digestive system, including issues with excretion and urination. These are all due to the dominance of Kapha and the resultant imbalance.

They also observe signs such as bloating, belching, sour taste, burning sensations, indigestion, and other disturbances caused by wine consumption. These symptoms are commonly seen in individuals who have consumed wine in excess.
