तृतीयकस्तृतीयेऽह्नि चतुर्थेऽह्नि चतुर्थकः । वातेनोदीर्यमाणाश्च ह्रीयमाणाश्च सर्वतः । एकद्विदोषा मर्त्यानां तस्मिन्नेवोदितेऽहनि ॥७१॥
The one who experiences fever on the third day is called "Tritīyaka." The one who experiences fever on the fourth day is called "Chaturthaka." Those afflicted by this fever, caused by Vāta (air element), are weakened and exhausted in all directions. When fever arises on the same day for individuals suffering from one or two doshas (imbalances), it is known to occur during the onset of the day.

तीसरे दिन बुखार आने वाले को "तृतीयक" कहते हैं। चौथे दिन बुखार आने वाले को "चतुर्थक" कहते हैं। वात (वायु तत्व) के कारण होने वाले इस बुखार से पीड़ित व्यक्ति हर तरफ से कमजोर और थका हुआ होता है। जब एक या दो दोषों (असंतुलन) से पीड़ित व्यक्तियों को एक ही दिन बुखार आता है, तो यह दिन की शुरुआत में होता है।

tRtIyakastRtIye'hni caturthe'hni caturthakaH । vAtenodIryamANAzca hrIyamANAzca sarvataH । ekadvidoSA martyAnAM tasminnevodite'hani ॥71॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवेलां तामेव कुर्वन्ति ज्वरवेगे मुहुर्मुहुः । (वातेनोद्धूयमानस्तु यथा पूर्येत सागरः ॥७२॥
They experience the same kind of fever repeatedly, as if stirred up by the force of the fever again and again. (Just as the ocean is stirred by the wind and is filled with waves.)

उन्हें एक ही प्रकार का ज्वर बार-बार अनुभव होता है, मानो ज्वर के बल से वे बार-बार उत्तेजित हो रहे हों। (जैसे समुद्र हवा से हिलता है और लहरों से भर जाता है।)

hk transliteration by Sanscriptवातेनोदीरितास्तद्वद्दोषाः कुर्वन्ति वै ज्वरान् । यथा वेगागमे वेलां छादयित्वा महोदधेः ॥७३॥
Just as waves are raised in the great ocean when the wind blows, similarly, the doshas, when stirred by the wind (Vata), cause the fever.

जैसे वायु के चलने पर महासागर में लहरें उठती हैं, उसी प्रकार वायु (वात) के चलने पर दोष ज्वर उत्पन्न करते हैं।

vAtenodIritAstadvaddoSAH kurvanti vai jvarAn । yathA vegAgame velAM chAdayitvA mahodadheH ॥73॥

When the speed of the current is halted, the water settles in the same place; similarly, when the doshas are stirred, the fever arises.

जब धारा की गति रुक जाती है तो पानी उसी स्थान पर स्थिर हो जाता है; इसी प्रकार जब दोषों में हलचल होती है तो बुखार उत्पन्न होता है।

vegahAnau tadevAmbhastatraivAntarnilIyate । doSavegodaye tadvadudIryeta jvaro'sya vai ॥74॥

When the speed is reduced, the water calms down in the ocean; similarly, fever arises due to various kinds of afflictions.

गति कम होने पर समुद्र का जल शांत हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार नाना प्रकार के कष्टों के कारण ज्वर उत्पन्न होता है।
