नस्यादिषु विधिं कृत्स्नमवेक्षेतार्दितेरितम् | पित्तरक्तोत्थयोः पेयं सर्पिर्मधुरकैः शृतम् ||२६||

In cases of Pittaja or Raktaja Pratishyaya, the physician should thoroughly assess the patient’s condition before administering nasal treatments (Nasya). For these types of catarrh, clarified butter (sarpir) should be used, prepared with sweet and cooling ingredients, to help balance the aggravated Pitta and blood.

This mixture should be prepared in a proportion where the milk is ten times the weight of the oil, and it should be used as an errhine to clear the nasal passages and restore balance.

The oil should be made with sesame (tila) and Masha (black gram), both of which have been properly cooked to balance the excessive Kapha and promote proper drainage of the mucus.
