घ्राणाश्रिते मर्मणि सम्प्रदुष्टे यस्यानिलो नासिकया निरेति ||११||

When the vital point (marma) related to the sense of smell becomes contaminated and the Vayu (air) exits through the nostrils, it leads to a disorder where the air is expelled abnormally from the nose.

Those who are knowledgeable about diseases describe the condition as Kshavathu (sneezing) when the Kapha is excessively aggravated, accompanied by sound. This condition may be triggered by the use of sharp substances, excessive smelling, or exposure to strong irritants such as pungent substances or the sun.

The disease, called Bhramshathu (disintegration), is caused when the accumulated Pitta, which has been heated in the head, is disturbed and expelled. When this happens, the air in the nostrils is accompanied by a burning sensation, resembling smoke coming out of the nose.
