साध्यं क्षतं पटलमेकमुभे तु कृच्छ्रे त्रीणि क्षतानि पटलानि विवर्जयेत्तु | स्यात् पिच्चितं च नयनं ह्यति चावसन्नं स्रस्तं च्युतं च हतदृक् च भवेत्तु याप्यम् ||६||

An ulcer affecting one coat of the eye is curable, but if it affects two coats, it becomes difficult to treat. An ulcer that invades three coats should be considered incurable. In cases where the eye is bruised, sunken, dislocated, or when vision is lost, only palliative treatment can be applied.

विस्तीर्णदृष्टितनुरागमसत्प्रदर्शि, साध्यं यथास्थितमनाविलदर्शनं च | प्राणोपरोधवमनक्षुतकण्ठरोधैरुन्नम्यमाशु नयनं यदतिप्रविष्टम् ||७||

When the eye is deeply sunken and the vision is unclear or distorted, it should be treated with methods that restore the eye's normal position and function. This includes techniques like holding the breath, inducing vomiting, or using remedies that clear the throat, thereby restoring the eye's position and function rapidly if it has been deeply affected.

नेत्रे विलम्बिनि विधिर्विहितः पुरस्तादुच्छिङ्घनं शिरसि वार्यवसेचनं च | षट्सप्ततिर्नयनजा य इमे प्रदिष्टा रोगा भवन्त्यमहतां महतां च तेभ्यः ||८||

When the eyes are hanging down, the prescribed method should be applied, which involves pouring water on the head and administering specific treatments. Seventy-six eye diseases have been described, which can affect both adults and children. Among these, some are major, while others are less severe, and the physician should treat them according to their severity.

स्तन्यप्रकोपकफमारुतपित्तरक्तैर्बालाक्षिवर्त्मभव एव कुकूणकोऽन्यः | मृद्गाति नेत्रमतिकण्डुमथाक्षिकूटं नासाललाटमपि तेन शिशुः स नित्यम् ||९||

Kukunaka is another disease that occurs in infants, caused by the vitiated condition of the mother's breast milk, which involves an imbalance of Kapha, Vayu, Pitta, and blood. In this condition, the infant frequently rubs the eyes, nose, and forehead with their fists, showing intense irritation.

सूर्यप्रभां न सहते स्रवति प्रबद्धं, तस्याहरेद्रुधिरमाशु विनिर्लिखेच्च | क्षौद्रायुतैश्च कटुभिः प्रतिसारयेत्तु मातुः शिशोरभिहितं च विधिं विदध्यात् ||१०||

The child suffering from Kukunaka cannot tolerate sunlight, and there is excessive tearing. The physician should quickly draw out the blood and apply treatments with bitter, honey-infused compounds. The mother should also follow the prescribed treatments for the condition of her breast milk.

कुकुनाका से पीड़ित बच्चा सूरज की रोशनी बर्दाश्त नहीं कर पाता और उसके आंसू बहुत ज़्यादा निकलते हैं। चिकित्सक को तुरंत खून बाहर निकालना चाहिए और कड़वे, शहद युक्त यौगिकों से उपचार करना चाहिए। माँ को भी अपने स्तन के दूध की स्थिति के लिए निर्धारित उपचारों का पालन करना चाहिए।
