विषमो वा तनुर्मध्ये राजिमान् वा बहुप्रभः | दृष्टिस्थो लक्ष्यते दोषः सरुजो वा सलोहितः ||५६||

If there is an irregular or thin appearance in the middle, or if it appears bright and many-colored, it indicates the presence of a defect. It can also appear as painful, or red in color.

अगर बीच में कोई अनियमित या पतलापन दिखाई दे या यह चमकीला और कई रंगों वाला दिखाई दे तो यह दोष की उपस्थिति को दर्शाता है। यह दर्दनाक या लाल रंग का भी दिखाई दे सकता है।

One should not direct the treatment from below, above, or from the sides, as it could be caused by divine interference. The treatment should be performed with care using a sharp instrument (shalaka), with effort and precision, following the natural curvature of the eye.

The physician, holding the instrument with a firm hand and the thumb in the middle region (of the eye), should aim to treat the left side of the eye using the right hand. If the left hand is used, the treatment should be directed toward the right side.

चिकित्सक को उपकरण को मजबूती से पकड़कर अंगूठे को आंख के मध्य भाग में रखना चाहिए तथा दाएं हाथ से आंख के बाएं हिस्से का उपचार करना चाहिए। यदि बाएं हाथ का उपयोग किया जाता है, तो उपचार को दाएं हिस्से की ओर निर्देशित किया जाना चाहिए।
