विलोकयन्ती निरवद्यमात्मनः पदं ध्रुवं चाव्यभिचारिसद्गुणम् । गन्धर्वयक्षासुरसिद्धचारणत्रैविष्टपेयादिषु नान्वविन्दत ।। ८-८-१९ ॥
While walking among the Gandharvas, Yakṣas, asuras, Siddhas, Cāraṇas and denizens of heaven, Lakṣmīdevī, the goddess of fortune, was scrutinizingly examining them, but she could not find anyone naturally endowed with all good qualities. None of them was devoid of faults, and therefore she could not take shelter of any of them. ।। 8-8-19 ॥

गन्धर्वों, यक्षों, असुरों, सिद्धों, चारणों तथा स्वर्गलोक के वासियों के बीच विचरण करती हुई भाग्य की देवी लक्ष्मीदेवी उन सबका निरीक्षण कर रही थीं, किन्तु उनमें से कोई भी उन्हें समस्त स्वाभाविक उत्तम गुणों से युक्त नहीं मिला। उनमें से कोई भी दोषों से रहित न था अतएव वे किसी की भी शरण ग्रहण नहीं कर सकीं। ।। ८-८-१९ ॥
