अतीतप्रलयापाय उत्थिताय स वेधसे । हत्वासुरं हयग्रीवं वेदान् प्रत्याहरद्धरिः ॥ ८-२४-५७ ॥
At the end of the last inundation [during the period of Svāyambhuva Manu] the Supreme Personality of Godhead killed the demon named Hayagrīva and delivered all the Vedic literatures to Lord Brahmā when Lord Brahmā awakened from sleeping. ॥ 8-24-57 ॥

(स्वायंभुव मनु के काल में) पिछली बाढ़ के अन्त में भगवान् ने हयग्रीव नामक असुर को मारा और ब्रह्मा के निद्रा से जगने पर उन्हें सारा वैदिक साहित्य प्रदान कर दिया। ॥ ८-२४-५७ ॥
