पुराणसंहितां दिव्यां साङ्ख्ययोगक्रियावतीम् । सत्यव्रतस्य राजर्षेरात्मगुह्यमशेषतः ।। ८-२४-५५ ।।

sanskrit

The Supreme Personality of Godhead thus explained to King Satyavrata the spiritual science known as sāṅkhya-yoga, the science by which one distinguishes between matter and spirit [in other words, bhakti-yoga], along with the instructions contained in the Purāṇas [the old histories] and the saṁhitās. The Lord explained Himself in all these literatures. ।। 8-24-55 ।।

english translation

इस प्रकार भगवान् ने राजा सत्यव्रत को वह आध्यात्मिक विज्ञान बतलाया जो सांख्ययोग कहलाता है, जिससे पदार्थ तथा आत्मा का अन्तर (अर्थात् भक्तियोग) जाना जाता है। इसके साथ ही भगवान् ने पुराणों (प्राचीन इतिहास) तथा संहिताओं में पाये जाने वाले उपदेश भी बतलाये। भगवान् ने इन सारे ग्रंथों में अपनी व्याख्या की है। ।। ८-२४-५५ ।।
