पुंसां श्लाघ्यतमं मन्ये दण्डमर्हत्तमार्पितम् । यं न माता पिता भ्राता सुहृदश्चादिशन्ति हि ।। ८-२२-४ ।।

sanskrit

Although a father, mother, brother or friend may sometimes punish one as a well-wisher, they never punish their subordinate like this. But because You are the most worshipable Lord, I regard the punishment You have given me as most exalted. ।। 8-22-4 ।।

english translation

यद्यपि कभी-कभी किसी व्यक्ति के पिता, माता, भाई या मित्र उसके हितैषी होने के कारण उसे दण्डित कर सकते हैं, किन्तु वे कभी भी अपने आश्रित को इस प्रकार दण्डित नहीं करते। किन्तु आप परम पूज्य भगवान् हैं अतएव आपने मुझे जो दण्ड दिया है उसे मैं अत्यन्त प्रशंसनीय समझता हूँ। ।। ८-२२-४ ।।

puMsAM zlAghyatamaM manye daNDamarhattamArpitam | yaM na mAtA pitA bhrAtA suhRdazcAdizanti hi || 8-22-4 ||
