प्रह्लाद उवाच त्वयैव दत्तं पदमैन्द्रमूर्जितं हृतं तदेवाद्य तथैव शोभनम् । मन्ये महानस्य कृतो ह्यनुग्रहो विभ्रंशितो यच्छ्रिय आत्ममोहनात् ।। ८-२२-१६ ।।

Prahlāda Mahārāja said: My Lord, it is Your Lordship who gave this Bali the very great opulence of the post of heavenly king, and now, today, it is You who have taken it all away. I think You have acted with equal beauty in both ways. Because his exalted position as King of heaven was putting him in the darkness of ignorance, You have done him a very merciful favor by taking away all his opulence. ।। 8-22-16 ।।

english translation

श्लोक 16: प्रह्लाद महाराज ने कहा : हे प्रभु! इस बलि को इन्द्र पद का महान् ऐश्वर्य आपकी ही देन है और अब उस को आपने ही छीन लिया है। मेरे विचार से आपका देना-लेना एक सा सुन्दर है। चूँकि स्वर्ग के राजा का उच्च पद उसे अज्ञान के अंधकार में डाले हुए था अतएव आपने उसका सारा ऐश्वर्य छीनकर उसके ऊपर महान् अनुग्रह किया है। ।। ८-२२-१६ ।।

prahlAda uvAca tvayaiva dattaM padamaindramUrjitaM hRtaM tadevAdya tathaiva zobhanam | manye mahAnasya kRto hyanugraho vibhraMzito yacchriya AtmamohanAt || 8-22-16 ||
