यद्यद्धास्यति लोकेऽस्मिन् सम्परेतं धनादिकम् । तस्य त्यागे निमित्तं किं विप्रस्तुष्येन्न तेन चेत् ।। ८-२०-६ ।।

sanskrit

My lord, you can also see that all the material opulences of this world are certainly separated from their possessor at death. Therefore, if the brāhmaṇa Vāmanadeva is not satisfied by whatever gifts one has given, why not please Him with the riches one is destined to lose at death? ।। 8-20-6 ।।

english translation

हे प्रभु! आप यह भी देख सकते हैं कि इस संसार का सारा भौतिक ऐश्वर्य उसके स्वामी की मृत्यु के समय निश्चित रूप से विलग हो जाता है। अतएव यदि ब्राह्मण वामनदेव दिये गये उपहारों (दान) से तुष्ट नहीं होते तो क्यों न उन्हें उस धन से तुष्ट कर लिया जाये जो मृत्यु के समय चला जाने वाला है? ।। ८-२०-६ ।।

yadyaddhAsyati loke'smin samparetaM dhanAdikam | tasya tyAge nimittaM kiM viprastuSyenna tena cet || 8-20-6 ||
