तमायान्तं समालोक्य शूलपाणिं कृतान्तवत् । चिन्तयामास कालज्ञो विष्णुर्मायाविनां वरः ॥ ८-१९-८ ॥
Seeing Hiraṇyakaśipu coming forward bearing a trident in his hand like personified death, Lord Viṣṇu, the best of all mystics and the knower of the progress of time, thought as follows. ॥ 8-19-8 ॥
english translation
हिरण्यकशिपु को हाथ में त्रिशूल लिए साक्षात् काल की भाँति आगे बढ़ते देखकर समस्त मायावियों में श्रेष्ठ तथा काल की गति को जानने वाले भगवान् विष्णु ने इस प्रकार सोचा। ॥ ८-१९-८ ॥
