अत्रापि बह्वृचैर्गीतं श‍ृणु मेऽसुरसत्तम । सत्यमोमिति यत्प्रोक्तं यन्नेत्याहानृतं हि तत् ॥ ८-१९-३८ ॥

One might argue that since you have already promised, how can you refuse? O best of the demons, just take from me the evidence of the Bahvṛca-śruti, which says that a promise is truthful preceded by the word om and untruthful if not. ॥ 8-19-38 ॥

english translation

कोई यह तर्क कर सकता है कि चूँकि तुमने पहले ही वचन दे दिया है अतएव अब कैसे मना कर सकते हो? हे असुरश्रेष्ठ! तुम मुझसे बह्वृच-श्रुति का साक्ष्य ले सकते हो जो यह कहती है कि वह वचन सत्य है, जिसके आरम्भ में ॐ हो; वह असत्य है, जो ॐ से आरम्भ न हो। ॥ ८-१९-३८ ॥
