त्वं सर्ववरदः पुंसां वरेण्य वरदर्षभ । अतस्ते श्रेयसे धीराः पादरेणुमुपासते ।। ८-१६-३६ ।।

sanskrit

O most exalted and worshipable Lord, best of those who bestow benediction, You can fulfill the desires of everyone, and therefore those who are sober, for their own welfare, worship the dust of Your lotus feet. ।। 8-16-36 ।।

english translation

हे परम पूज्य भगवान्, हे वरदायकों में श्रेष्ठ! आप हर एक की इच्छाओं को पूरा कर सकते हैं अतएव जो धीर हैं, वे अपने कल्याण के लिए आपके चरणकमलों की धूल को पूजते हैं। ।। ८-१६-३६ ।।

sanskrit

All the demigods, as well as the goddess of fortune, engage in the service of His lotus feet. Indeed, they respect the fragrance of those lotus feet. May the Supreme Personality of Godhead be pleased with me. ।। 8-16-37 ।।

english translation

सारे देवता तथा लक्ष्मीजी भी उनके चरणकमलों की सेवा में लगी रहती हैं। निस्सन्देह, वे उन चरणकमलों की सुगन्ध का आदर करते हैं। ऐसे भगवान् मुझ पर प्रसन्न हों। ।। ८-१६-३७ ।।

Kaśyapa Muni continued: By chanting all these mantras, welcoming the Supreme Personality of Godhead with faith and devotion, and offering Him items of worship [such as pādya and arghya], one should worship Keśava, Hṛṣīkeśa, Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. ।। 8-16-38 ।।

english translation

कश्यप मुनि ने आगे कहा : इन सभी मंत्रों के उच्चारण द्वारा भगवान् का श्रद्धा तथा भक्ति के साथ स्वागत करके एवं उन्हें पूजा की वस्तुएँ (पाद्य तथा अर्घ्य) अर्पित करके मनुष्य को केशव अर्थात् हृषीकेश भगवान् कृष्ण की पूजा करनी चाहिए। ।। ८-१६-३८ ।।

अर्चित्वा गन्धमाल्याद्यैः पयसा स्नपयेद्विभुम् । वस्त्रोपवीताभरणपाद्योपस्पर्शनैस्ततः । गन्धधूपादिभिश्चार्चेद्द्वादशाक्षरविद्यया ।। ८-१६-३९ ।।

In the beginning, the devotee should chant the dvādaśākṣara-mantra and offer flower garlands, incense and so on. After worshiping the Lord in this way, one should bathe the Lord with milk and dress Him with proper garments, a sacred thread, and ornaments. After offering water to wash the Lord’s feet, one should again worship the Lord with fragrant flowers, incense and other paraphernalia. ।। 8-16-39 ।।

english translation

सर्वप्रथम भक्त को द्वादश अक्षर मंत्र का उच्चारण करना चाहिए और फूल की माला, अगुरु इत्यादि अर्पित करने चाहिए। इस प्रकार से भगवान् की पूजा करने के बाद भगवान् को दूध से नहलाना चाहिए और उन्हें समुचित वस्त्र तथा यज्ञोपवीत (जनेऊ) पहनाकर गहनों से सजाना चाहिए। तत्पश्चात् भगवान् के चरणों का प्रक्षालन करने के लिए जल अर्पित करके सुगंधित पुष्प, अगुरु तथा अन्य सामग्री से भगवान् की पुन: पूजा करनी चाहिए। ।। ८-१६-३९ ।।

If one can afford to, one should offer the Deity fine rice boiled in milk with clarified butter and molasses. While chanting the same original mantra, one should offer all this to the fire. ।। 8-16-40 ।।

english translation

यदि सामर्थ्य हो तो भक्त अर्चाविग्रह पर दूध में घी तथा गुड़ के साथ पकाये चावल चढ़ाए। उसी मूल मंत्र का उच्चारण करते हुए यह सामग्री अग्नि में डाली जाये। ।। ८-१६-४० ।।
