दृष्ट्वा मृधे गरुडवाहमिभारिवाह आविध्य शूलमहिनोदथ कालनेमिः । तल्लीलया गरुडमूर्ध्नि पतद्गृहीत्वा तेनाहनन्नृप सवाहमरिं त्र्यधीशः ।। ८-१०-५६ ।।

O King, when the demon Kālanemi, who was carried by a lion, saw that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, carried by Garuḍa, was on the battlefield, the demon immediately took his trident, whirled it and discharged it at Garuḍa’s head. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hari, the master of the three worlds, immediately caught the trident, and with the very same weapon he killed the enemy Kālanemi, along with his carrier, the lion. ।। 8-10-56 ।।

english translation

हे राजा! जब सिंह पर आरूढ़ कालनेमि दैत्य ने देखा कि गरुड़वाहन भगवान् युद्धक्षेत्र में हैं, तो उसने तुरन्त अपना त्रिशूल निकाल लिया और उसे गरुड़ के सिर पर चलाया। किन्तु तीनों लोकों के स्वामी भगवान् हरि ने तुरन्त ही उस त्रिशूल को पकड़ लिया और उसी हथियार से अपने शत्रु कालनेमि को उसके वाहन सिंह समेत मार डाला। ।। ८-१०-५६ ।।

माली सुमाल्यतिबलौ युधि पेततुर्यच्चक्रेण कृत्तशिरसावथ माल्यवांस्तम् । आहत्य तिग्मगदयाहनदण्डजेन्द्रं तावच्छिरोऽच्छिनदरेर्नदतोऽरिणाद्यः ।। ८-१०-५७ ।।

Thereafter, two very powerful demons named Mālī and Sumālī were killed by the Supreme Lord, who severed their heads with His disc. Then Mālyavān, another demon, attacked the Lord. With his sharp club, the demon, who was roaring like a lion, attacked Garuḍa, the lord of the birds, who are born from eggs. But the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the original person, used His disc to cut off the head of that enemy also. ।। 8-10-57 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात् भगवान् ने माली तथा सुमाली नामक दो शक्तिमान असुरों को मारा। उन्होंने अपने चक्र से उनके सिर काट दिये। तब एक अन्य असुर माल्यवान ने भगवान् पर आक्रमण किया। उसने अपनी नुकीली गदा से, सिंह की भाँति गर्जना करते हुए, अण्डो से उत्पन्न पक्षिराज गरुड़ पर आक्रमण किया। किन्तु आदि पुरुष भगवान् ने अपने चक्र का प्रयोग करते हुए उस शत्रु के सिर को भी काट दिया। ।। ८-१०-५७ ।।
