देवा वैधृतयो नाम विधृतेस्तनया नृप । नष्टाः कालेन यैर्वेदा विधृताः स्वेन तेजसा ॥ ८-१-२९ ॥
O King, in the Tāmasa manvantara the sons of Vidhṛti, who were known as the Vaidhṛtis, also became demigods. Since in course of time the Vedic authority was lost, these demigods, by their own powers, protected the Vedic authority. ॥ 8-1-29 ॥
english translation
हे राजा! तामस मन्वन्तर में विधृति के पुत्र भी जो वैधृति कहलाते थे, देवता बने। चूँकि कालक्रम से वैदिक स्वत्व विनष्ट हो गया था, अतएव इन देवताओं ने अपने बल से वैदिक स्वत्व की रक्षा की। ॥ ८-१-२९ ॥
