ऋषेस्तु वेदशिरसस्तुषिता नाम पत्न्यभूत् । तस्यां जज्ञे ततो देवो विभुरित्यभिविश्रुतः ॥ ८-१-२१ ॥
Vedaśirā was a very celebrated ṛṣi. From the womb of his wife, whose name was Tuṣitā, came the avatāra named Vibhu. ॥ 8-1-21 ॥

वेदशिरा अत्यन्त विख्यात ऋषि थे। उनकी पत्नी तुषिता के गर्भ से विभु नामक अवतार ने जन्म लिया। ॥ ८-१-२१ ॥

अष्टाशीतिसहस्राणि मुनयो ये धृतव्रताः । अन्वशिक्षन् व्रतं तस्य कौमारब्रह्मचारिणः ॥ ८-१-२२ ॥
Vibhu remained a brahmacāri and never married throughout his life. From him, eighty-eight thousand other saintly persons took lessons on self-control, austerity and similar behavior. ॥ 8-1-22 ॥

विभु ब्रह्मचारी बने रहे और जीवन पर्यन्त अविवाहित रहे। उनसे अट्ठासी हजार अन्य मुनियों ने आत्मनिग्रह, तपस्या तथा अन्य आचार सम्बन्धी शिक्षाएँ ग्रहण कीं। ॥ ८-१-२२ ॥

तृतीय उत्तमो नाम प्रियव्रतसुतो मनुः । पवनः सृञ्जयो यज्ञहोत्राद्यास्तत्सुता नृप ॥ ८-१-२३ ॥
O King, the third Manu, Uttama, was the son of King Priyavrata. Among the sons of this Manu were Pavana, Sṛñjaya and Yajñahotra. ॥ 8-1-23 ॥

हे राजा! तीसरा मनु राजा प्रियव्रत का पुत्र उत्तम था। इस मनु के पुत्रों में पवन, सृञ्जय तथा यज्ञहोत्र मुख्य थे। ॥ ८-१-२३ ॥

वसिष्ठतनयाः सप्त ऋषयः प्रमदादयः । सत्या वेदश्रुता भद्रा देवा इन्द्रस्तु सत्यजित् ॥ ८-१-२४ ॥
During the reign of the third Manu, Pramada and other sons of Vasiṣṭha became the seven sages. The Satyas, Vedaśrutas and Bhadras became demigods, and Satyajit was selected to be Indra, the King of heaven. ॥ 8-1-24 ॥

तीसरे मनु के शासनकाल में वसिष्ठ के प्रमद तथा अन्य पुत्र सप्तर्षि बने। सत्यगण, वेदश्रुतगण तथा भद्रगण देवता बने और सत्यजित् को स्वर्ग का राजा इन्द्र चुना गया। ॥ ८-१-२४ ॥

धर्मस्य सूनृतायां तु भगवान् पुरुषोत्तमः । सत्यसेन इति ख्यातो जातः सत्यव्रतैः सह ॥ ८-१-२५ ॥
In this manvantara, the Supreme Personality of Godhead appeared from the womb of Sūnṛtā, who was the wife of Dharma, the demigod in charge of religion. The Lord was celebrated as Satyasena, and He appeared with other demigods, known as the Satyavratas. ॥ 8-1-25 ॥

इस मन्वन्तर में भगवान् धर्म की पत्नी सूनृता के गर्भ से प्रकट हुए और सत्यसेन नाम से विख्यात हुए। वे सत्यव्रत नामक अन्य देवताओं के साथ प्रकट हुए। ॥ ८-१-२५ ॥
