आत्मतत्त्वावबोधेन वैराग्येण दृढेन च । ईयते भगवानेभिः सगुणो निर्गुणः स्वदृक् ।। ३-३२-३६ ।।

sanskrit

By understanding the science of self-realization, and by developing a strong sense of detachment, one who is expert in understanding the different processes of self-realization realizes the Supreme Personality of Godhead as He is represented in the material world as well as in transcendence. ।। 3-32-36 ।।

english translation

आत्म-साक्षात्कार की विभिन्न विधियों को समझने में अत्यन्त पटु व्यक्ति उस रूप में भगवान् का साक्षात्कार करता है जैसा कि वे भौतिक जगत में तथा अध्यात्म में निरूपित किये जाते हैं। ।। ३-३२-३६ ।।

प्रावोचं भक्तियोगस्य स्वरूपं ते चतुर्विधम् । कालस्य चाव्यक्तगतेर्योऽन्तर्धावति जन्तुषु ।। ३-३२-३७ ।।

sanskrit

My dear mother, I have explained to you the process of devotional service and its identity in four different social divisions. I have explained to you as well how eternal time is chasing the living entities, although it is imperceptible to them. ।। 3-32-37 ।।

english translation

हे माता, आपसे मैं भक्तियोग तथा चार विभिन्न आश्रमों में इसके स्वरूप की व्याख्या कर चुका हूँ। मैं आपको यह भी बता चुका कि शाश्वत काल किस तरह जीवों का पीछा कर रहा है यद्यपि यह उनसे अदृश्य रहता है। ।। ३-३२-३७ ।।

prAvocaM bhaktiyogasya svarUpaM te caturvidham | kAlasya cAvyaktagateryo'ntardhAvati jantuSu || 3-32-37 ||

जीवस्य संसृतीर्बह्वीरविद्याकर्मनिर्मिताः । यास्वङ्ग प्रविशन्नात्मा न वेद गतिमात्मनः ।। ३-३२-३८ ।।

sanskrit

There are varieties of material existence for the living entity according to the work he performs in ignorance or forgetfulness of his real identity. My dear mother, if anyone enters into that forgetfulness, he is unable to understand where his movements will end. ।। 3-32-38 ।।

english translation

अज्ञान में किये गये कर्म अथवा अपनी वास्तविक पहचान की विस्मृति के अनुसार जीवात्मा के लिए अनेक प्रकार के भौतिक अस्तित्व होते हैं। हे माता, यदि कोई इस विस्मृति में प्रविष्ट होता है, तो वह यह नहीं समझ पाता कि उसकी गतियों का अन्त कहाँ होगा। ।। ३-३२-३८ ।।

नैतत्खलायोपदिशेन्नाविनीताय कर्हिचित् । न स्तब्धाय न भिन्नाय नैव धर्मध्वजाय च ।। ३-३२-३९ ।।

sanskrit

Lord Kapila continued: This instruction is not meant for the envious, for the agnostics or for persons who are unclean in their behavior. Nor is it for hypocrites or for persons who are proud of material possessions. ।। 3-32-39 ।।

english translation

भगवान् कपिल ने आगे कहा : यह उपदेश उन लोगों के लिए नहीं है, जो ईर्ष्यालु हैं, अविनीत हैं या दुराचारी हैं। न ही यह उपदेश दम्भियों या उन व्यक्तियों के लिए है, जिन्हें अपनी भौतिक सम्पदा का गर्व है। ।। ३-३२-३९ ।।

naitatkhalAyopadizennAvinItAya karhicit | na stabdhAya na bhinnAya naiva dharmadhvajAya ca || 3-32-39 ||

न लोलुपायोपदिशेन्न गृहारूढचेतसे । नाभक्ताय च मे जातु न मद्भक्तद्विषामपि ।। ३-३२-४० ।।

sanskrit

It is not to be instructed to persons who are too greedy and too attached to family life, nor to persons who are nondevotees and who are envious of the devotees and of the Personality of Godhead. ।। 3-32-40 ।।

english translation

यह उपदेश न तो उन लोगों को दिया जाय जो अत्यन्त लालची हैं और गृहस्थ जीवन के प्रति अत्यधिक आसक्त हैं, न ही अभक्तों और भक्तों एवं भगवान् के भक्तों तथा भगवान् के प्रति ईर्ष्या रखने वालों को दिया जाय। ।। ३-३२-४० ।।
