मैत्रेय उवाच एवं समुदितस्तेन कपिलेन प्रजापतिः । दक्षिणीकृत्य तं प्रीतो वनमेव जगाम ह ॥ ३-२४-४१ ॥
Śrī Maitreya said: Thus when Kardama Muni, the progenitor of human society, was spoken to in fullness by his son, Kapila, he circumambulated Him, and with a good, pacified mind he at once left for the forest. ॥ 3-24-41 ॥

श्रीमैत्रेय ने कहा—इस प्रकार अपने पुत्र कपिल द्वारा सम्बोधित किये जाने पर मानव समाज के जनक श्रीकर्दमुनि ने उसकी परिक्रमा की और अच्छे तथा शान्त मन से उन्होंने तुरन्त जंगल के लिए प्रस्थान कर दिया। ॥ ३-२४-४१ ॥

व्रतं स आस्थितो मौनमात्मैकशरणो मुनिः । निःसङ्गो व्यचरत्क्षोणीमनग्निरनिकेतनः ॥ ३-२४-४२ ॥
The sage Kardama accepted silence as a vow in order to think of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and take shelter of Him exclusively. Without association, he traveled over the surface of the globe as a sannyāsī, devoid of any relationship with fire or shelter. ॥ 3-24-42 ॥

कर्दममुनि ने मौन व्रत धारण करना स्वीकार किया जिससे पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् का चिन्तन कर सकें और एकमात्र उन्हीं की शरण में जा सकें। बिना किसी संगी के वे संन्यासी रूप में पृथ्वी भर में भ्रमण करने लगे, अग्नि अथवा आश्रय से उनका कोई सम्बन्ध न रहा। ॥ ३-२४-४२ ॥

मनो ब्रह्मणि युञ्जानो यत्तत्सदसतः परम् । गुणावभासे विगुण एकभक्त्यानुभाविते ॥ ३-२४-४३ ॥
He fixed his mind upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Parabrahman, who is beyond cause and effect, who manifests the three modes of material nature, who is beyond those three modes, and who is perceived only through unfailing devotional service. ॥ 3-24-43 ॥
english translation
उन्होंने अपना मन परब्रह्म पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् में स्थिर कर दिया जो कार्य- कारण से परे हैं, जो तीनों गुणों को प्रकट करने वाले हैं किन्तु उन तीनों गुणों से अतीत हैं और जो केवल अटूट भक्तियोग के द्वारा देखे जा सकते हैं। ॥ ३-२४-४३ ॥

निरहङ्कृतिर्निर्ममश्च निर्द्वन्द्वः समदृक् स्वदृक् । प्रत्यक्प्रशान्तधीर्धीरः प्रशान्तोर्मिरिवोदधिः ॥ ३-२४-४४ ॥
Thus he gradually became unaffected by the false ego of material identity and became free from material affection. Undisturbed, equal to everyone and without duality, he could indeed see himself also. His mind was turned inward and was perfectly calm, like an ocean unagitated by waves. ॥ 3-24-44 ॥
english translation
इस प्रकार वे अंहकार से रहित और भौतिक ममता से मुक्त हो गये। अविचलित, समदर्शी तथा अद्वैतभाव से वे अपने को भी देख सके (आत्मदर्शी)। वे अन्तर्मुखी हो गये और उसी तरह परम शान्त बन गये जिस प्रकार लहरों से अविचलित समुद्र। ॥ ३-२४-४४ ॥

वासुदेवे भगवति सर्वज्ञे प्रत्यगात्मनि । परेण भक्तिभावेन लब्धात्मा मुक्तबन्धनः ॥ ३-२४-४५ ॥
He thus became liberated from conditioned life and became self-situated in transcendental devotional service to the Personality of Godhead, Vāsudeva, the omniscient Supersoul within everyone. ॥ 3-24-45 ॥

इस प्रकार वे बद्ध जीवन से मुक्त हो गये और प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के भीतर स्थित सर्वज्ञ परमात्मा श्रीभगवान् वासुदेव की दिव्य सेवा में तल्लीन हो गये। ॥ ३-२४-४५ ॥
