त्वं हि ब्रह्मविदां श्रेष्ठः संस्कारान् कर्तुमर्हसि । बालयोरनयोर्नॄणां जन्मना ब्राह्मणो गुरुः ॥ १०-८-६ ॥
My lord, you are the best of the brāhmaṇas, especially because you are fully aware of the jyotiḥ-śāstra, the astrological science. Therefore you are naturally the spiritual master of every human being. This being so, since you have kindly come to my house, kindly execute the reformatory activities for my two sons. ॥ 10-8-6 ॥

हे प्रभु, आप ब्राह्मणों में श्रेष्ठ हैं विशेषतया, क्योंकि आप ज्योतिष शास्त्र से भलीभाँति अवगत हैं। अतएव आप सहज ही हर व्यक्ति के आध्यात्मिक गुरु हैं। ऐसा होते हुए चूँकि आप कृपा करके मेरे घर आये हैं अतएव आप मेरे दोनों पुत्रों का संस्कार सम्पन्न करें। ॥ १०-८-६ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptगर्ग उवाच यदूनामहमाचार्यः ख्यातश्च भुवि सर्वतः । सुतं मया संस्कृतं ते मन्यते देवकीसुतम् ॥ १०-८-७ ॥
Garga Muni said: My dear Nanda Mahārāja, I am the priestly guide of the Yadu dynasty. This is known everywhere. Therefore, if I perform the purificatory process for your sons, Kaṁsa will consider Them the sons of Devakī. ॥ 10-8-7 ॥

गर्गमुनि ने कहा : हे नन्द महाराज, मैं यदुकुल का पुरोहित हूँ। यह सर्वविदित है। अत: यदि मैं आपके पुत्रों का संस्कार सम्पन्न कराता हूँ तो कंस समझेगा कि वे देवकी के पुत्र हैं। ॥ १०-८-७ ॥

garga uvAca yadUnAmahamAcAryaH khyAtazca bhuvi sarvataH । sutaM mayA saMskRtaM te manyate devakIsutam ॥ 10-8-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकंसः पापमतिः सख्यं तव चानकदुन्दुभेः । देवक्या अष्टमो गर्भो न स्त्री भवितुमर्हति ॥ १०-८-८ ॥
Kaṁsa is both a great diplomat and a very sinful man. Therefore, having heard from Yoga-māyā, the daughter of Devakī, that the child who will kill him has already been born somewhere else, having heard that the eighth pregnancy of Devakī could not bring forth a female child, and having understood your friendship with Vasudeva, Kaṁsa ॥ 10-8-8 ॥

कंस बहुत बड़ा कूटनीतिज्ञ होने के साथ ही अत्यन्त पापी है। अत: देवकी की पुत्री योगमाया से यह सुनने के बाद कि उसके मारने वाला बालक अन्यत्र कहीं जन्म ले चुका है और यह सुन चुकने पर कि देवकी के आठवें गर्भ से पुत्री उत्पन्न नहीं हो सकती और यह जानते हुए कि वसुदेव से आपकी मित्रता है ॥ १०-८-८ ॥

kaMsaH pApamatiH sakhyaM tava cAnakadundubheH । devakyA aSTamo garbho na strI bhavitumarhati ॥ 10-8-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइति सञ्चिन्तयञ्छ्रुत्वा देवक्या दारिकावचः । अपि हन्ताऽऽगताशङ्कस्तर्हि तन्नोऽनयो भवेत् ॥ १०-८-९ ॥
Upon hearing that the purificatory process has been performed by me, the priest of the Yadu dynasty, may certainly consider all these points and suspect that Kṛṣṇa is the son of Devakī and Vasudeva. Then he might take steps to kill Kṛṣṇa. That would be a catastrophe. ॥ 10-8-9 ॥

जब कंस यह सुनेगा कि यदुकुल के पुरोहित मेरे द्वारा संस्कार कराया गया है, तो इन सब बातों से उसे निश्चित रूप से सन्देह हो जायेगा कि कृष्ण देवकी तथा वसुदेव का पुत्र है। तब वह कृष्ण को मार डालने के उपाय करेगा और यह महान् विपत्ति सिद्ध होगी। ॥ १०-८-९ ॥

iti saJcintayaJchrutvA devakyA dArikAvacaH । api hantA''gatAzaGkastarhi tanno'nayo bhavet ॥ 10-8-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनन्द उवाच अलक्षितोऽस्मिन् रहसि मामकैरपि गोव्रजे । कुरु द्विजातिसंस्कारं स्वस्तिवाचनपूर्वकम् ॥ १०-८-१० ॥
Nanda Mahārāja said: My dear great sage, if you think that your performing this process of purification will make Kaṁsa suspicious, then secretly chant the Vedic hymns and perform the purifying process of second birth here in the cow shed of my house, without the knowledge of anyone else, even my relatives, for this process of purification is essential. ॥ 10-8-10 ॥

नन्द महाराज ने कहा : हे महामुनि, यदि आप सोचते हैं कि आपके द्वारा संस्कार विधि सम्पन्न कराये जाने से कंस सशंकित होगा तो चुपके से वैदिक मंत्रोच्चार करें और मेरे घर की इस गोशाला में ही यह द्विज संस्कार पूरा करें जिससे और तो और मेरे सम्बन्धी तक न जान पायें क्योंकि यह संस्कार अत्यावश्यक है। ॥ १०-८-१० ॥
