तं दृष्ट्वा परमप्रीतः प्रत्युत्थाय कृताञ्जलिः । आनर्चाधोक्षजधिया प्रणिपातपुरःसरम् ।। १०-८-२ ।।

sanskrit

When Nanda Mahārāja saw Garga Muni present at his home, Nanda was so pleased that he stood up to receive him with folded hands. Although seeing Garga Muni with his eyes, Nanda Mahārāja could appreciate that Garga Muni was adhokṣaja; that is, he was not an ordinary person seen by material senses. ।। 10-8-2 ।।

english translation

जब नन्द महाराज ने गर्गमुनि को अपने घर में उपस्थित देखा तो वे इतने प्रसन्न हुए कि उनके स्वागत में दोनों हाथ जोड़े उठ खड़े हुए। यद्यपि गर्गमुनि को नन्द महाराज अपनी आँखों से देख रहे थे किन्तु वे उन्हें अधोक्षज मान रहे थे अर्थात् वे भौतिक इन्द्रियों से दिखाई पडऩे वाले सामान्य पुरुष न थे। ।। १०-८-२ ।।
