इत्युक्तश्चोदयामास रथमास्थाय दारुकः । विशन्तं ददृशुः सर्वे स्वे परे चारुणानुजम् ॥ १०-७७-११ ॥
Thus ordered, Dāruka took command of the Lord’s chariot and drove forth. As the chariot entered the battlefield, everyone there, both friend and foe, caught sight of the emblem of Garuḍa. ॥ 10-77-11 ॥

इस प्रकार आदेश दिया गया, दारुक ने भगवान के रथ की कमान संभाली और आगे बढ़ गया। जैसे ही रथ युद्ध के मैदान में प्रवेश किया, वहां मित्र और शत्रु सभी की नजर गरुड़ के प्रतीक पर पड़ी। ॥ १०-७७-११ ॥

शाल्वश्च कृष्णमालोक्य हतप्रायबलेश्वरः । प्राहरत्कृष्णसूताय शक्तिं भीमरवां मृधे ॥ १०-७७-१२ ॥
When Śālva, the master of a decimated army, saw Lord Kṛṣṇa approaching, he hurled his spear at the Lord’s charioteer. The spear roared frighteningly as it flew across the battlefield. ॥ 10-77-12 ॥

जब नष्ट हुई सेना के स्वामी शाल्व ने भगवान कृष्ण को आते देखा, तो उसने भगवान के सारथी पर अपना भाला फेंक दिया। युद्ध के मैदान में उड़ते समय भाला भयावह गर्जना कर रहा था। ॥ १०-७७-१२ ॥

तामापतन्तीं नभसि महोल्कामिव रंहसा । भासयन्तीं दिशः शौरिः सायकैः शतधाच्छिनत् ॥ १०-७७-१३ ॥
Śālva’s hurtling spear lit up the whole sky like a mighty meteor, but Lord Śauri tore the great weapon into hundreds of pieces with His arrows. ॥ 10-77-13 ॥

शाल्व के नुकीले भाले ने एक शक्तिशाली उल्का की तरह पूरे आकाश को चमका दिया, लेकिन भगवान शौरि ने अपने बाणों से उस महान हथियार को सैकड़ों टुकड़ों में तोड़ दिया। ॥ १०-७७-१३ ॥

तं च षोडशभिर्विद्ध्वा बाणैः सौभं च खे भ्रमत् । अविध्यच्छरसन्दोहैः खं सूर्य इव रश्मिभिः ॥ १०-७७-१४ ॥
Lord Kṛṣṇa then pierced Śālva with sixteen arrows and struck the Saubha airship with a deluge of arrows as it darted about the sky. Firing His arrows, the Lord appeared like the sun flooding the heavens with its rays. ॥ 10-77-14 ॥

तब भगवान कृष्ण ने शाल्व को सोलह बाणों से घायल कर दिया और आकाश में उड़ते हुए सौभ हवाई जहाज पर बाणों की बाढ़ से प्रहार किया। भगवान अपने बाण चलाते हुए ऐसे प्रकट हुए जैसे सूर्य अपनी किरणों से आकाश को भर रहा हो। ॥ १०-७७-१४ ॥

शाल्वः शौरेस्तु दोः सव्यं सशार्ङ्गं शार्ङ्गधन्वनः । बिभेद न्यपतद्धस्ताच्छार्ङ्गमासीत्तदद्भुतम् ॥ १०-७७-१५ ॥
Śālva then managed to strike Lord Kṛṣṇa’s left arm, which held His bow Śārṅga, and, amazingly, Śārṅga fell from His hand. ॥ 10-77-15 ॥

तब शाल्व भगवान कृष्ण की बायीं भुजा पर प्रहार करने में सफल हो गया, जिसमें उनका धनुष शारंग था, और, आश्चर्यजनक रूप से, शार्ग उनके हाथ से गिर गया। ॥ १०-७७-१५ ॥
