लाङ्गलाग्रेण नगरमुद्विदार्य गजाह्वयम् । विचकर्ष स गङ्गायां प्रहरिष्यन्नमर्षितः ॥ १०-६८-४१ ॥
The Lord angrily dug up Hastināpura with the tip of His plow and began to drag it, intending to cast the entire city into the Ganges. ॥ 10-68-41 ॥

भगवान ने क्रोधपूर्वक अपने हल की नोक से हस्तिनापुर को खोद डाला और पूरे शहर को गंगा में डालने के इरादे से उसे खींचना शुरू कर दिया। ॥ १०-६८-४१ ॥

जलयानमिवाघूर्णं गङ्गायां नगरं पतत् । आकृष्यमाणमालोक्य कौरवाः जातसम्भ्रमाः ॥ १०-६८-४२ ॥
Seeing that their city was tumbling about like a raft at sea as it was being dragged away, and that it was about to fall into the Ganges, the Kauravas became terrified. ॥ 10-68-42 ॥

यह देखकर कि उनका नगर समुद्र में घसीटे जाने पर नाव की भाँति लड़खड़ा रहा है और गंगा में गिरने ही वाला है, कौरव भयभीत हो गये। ॥ १०-६८-४२ ॥

तमेव शरणं जग्मुः सकुटुम्बा जिजीविषवः । सलक्ष्मणं पुरस्कृत्य साम्बं प्राञ्जलयः प्रभुम् ॥ १०-६८-४३ ॥
To save their lives they approached the Lord for shelter, taking their families with them. Placing Sāmba and Lakṣmaṇā in front, they joined their palms in supplication. ॥ 10-68-43 ॥

अपनी जान बचाने के लिए वे अपने परिवार को साथ लेकर भगवान की शरण में गए। साम्ब और लक्ष्मण को सामने रखकर उन्होंने प्रार्थना करते हुए अपनी हथेलियाँ जोड़ लीं। ॥ १०-६८-४३ ॥

राम रामाखिलाधार प्रभावं न विदाम ते । मूढानां नः कुबुद्धीनां क्षन्तुमर्हस्यतिक्रमम् ॥ १०-६८-४४ ॥
[The Kauravas said:] O Rāma, Rāma, foundation of everything! We know nothing of Your power. Please excuse our offense, for we are ignorant and misguided. ॥ 10-68-44 ॥

[कौरवों ने कहा:] हे राम, राम, हर चीज के आधार! हम आपकी शक्ति के बारे में कुछ नहीं जानते। कृपया हमारा अपराध क्षमा करें, क्योंकि हम अज्ञानी और पथभ्रष्ट हैं। ॥ १०-६८-४४ ॥

स्थित्युत्पत्त्यप्ययानां त्वमेको हेतुर्निराश्रयः । लोकान् क्रीडनकानीश क्रीडतस्ते वदन्ति हि ॥ १०-६८-४५ ॥
You alone cause the creation, maintenance and annihilation of the cosmos, and of You there is no prior cause. Indeed, O Lord, authorities say that the worlds are mere playthings for You as You perform Your pastimes. ॥ 10-68-45 ॥

आप अकेले ही ब्रह्मांड की रचना, पालन और संहार का कारण हैं, और आपका कोई पूर्व कारण नहीं है। वास्तव में, हे भगवान, अधिकारियों का कहना है कि जब आप अपनी लीलाएँ करते हैं तो संसार आपके लिए मात्र खेल है। ॥ १०-६८-४५ ॥
