चिन्तयामास भगवान् हरिः कारणमानुषः । तद्देशकालानुगुणं स्वावतारप्रयोजनम् ।। १०-५०-६ ।।

sanskrit

The Lord considered what His suitable response should be according to the time, place and specific purpose of His current incarnation. ।। 10-50-6 ।।

english translation

तो भगवान् ने विचार किया कि देश, काल तथा उनके वर्तमान अवतार के विशिष्ट प्रयोजन के अनुकूल उनकी उपयुक्त प्रतिक्रिया क्या होनी चाहिए। ।। १०-५०-६ ।।

cintayAmAsa bhagavAn hariH kAraNamAnuSaH | taddezakAlAnuguNaM svAvatAraprayojanam || 10-50-6 ||

हनिष्यामि बलं ह्येतद्भुवि भारं समाहितम् । मागधेन समानीतं वश्यानां सर्वभूभुजाम् ।। १०-५०-७ ।।

sanskrit

[The Supreme Lord thought:] I shall destroy the strength of this earth, which has been accumulated by the Magadhas, the conquerors of all lands ।। 10-50-7 ।।

english translation

भगवान ने सोचा: मैं इस पृथ्वी की शक्ति को नष्ट कर दूंगा, जो सभी भूमियों के विजयी मगध के द्वारा जमा की गई है। ।। १०-५०-७ ।।

hindi translation

haniSyAmi balaM hyetadbhuvi bhAraM samAhitam | mAgadhena samAnItaM vazyAnAM sarvabhUbhujAm || 10-50-7 ||

अक्षौहिणीभिः सङ्ख्यातं भटाश्वरथकुञ्जरैः । मागधस्तु न हन्तव्यो भूयः कर्ता बलोद्यमम् ।। १०-५०-८ ।।

sanskrit

Consisting of akṣauhiṇīs of foot soldiers, horses, chariots and elephants, which the King of Magadha has assembled from all subservient kings and brought together here. But Jarāsandha himself should not be killed, since in the future he will certainly assemble another army. ।। 10-50-8 ।।

english translation

जिसमें अक्षौहिणियों पैदल सैनिक, घोड़े, रथ तथा हाथी हैं, जिसे मगध के राजा ने अपने अधीनस्थ राजाओं से बटोरकर यहाँ ला खड़ा किया है। किन्तु मुझे जरासंध को नहीं मारना चाहिए क्योंकि भविष्य में वह निश्चित रूप से दूसरी सेना जोड़ लेगा। ।। १०-५०-८ ।।

एतदर्थोऽवतारोऽयं भूभारहरणाय मे । संरक्षणाय साधूनां कृतोऽन्येषां वधाय च ।। १०-५०-९ ।।

sanskrit

This is the purpose of My present incarnation — to relieve the earth of its burden, protect the pious and kill the impious. ।। 10-50-9 ।।

english translation

मेरे इस अवतार का यही प्रयोजन है—पृथ्वी के भार को दूर करना, साधुओं की रक्षा करना और असाधुओं का वध करना। ।। १०-५०-९ ।।

I also assume other bodies to protect religion and to end irreligion whenever it flourishes in the course of time. ।। 10-50-10 ।।

english translation

मैं धर्म की रक्षा करने तथा जब जब समय के साथ अधर्म की प्रधानता होती है, तो उसका अन्त करने के लिए भी अन्य शरीर धारण करता हूँ। ।। १०-५०-१० ।।
