व्रजः सम्मृष्टसंसिक्तद्वाराजिरगृहान्तरः । चित्रध्वजपताकास्रक् चैलपल्लवतोरणैः ।। १०-५-६ ।।

sanskrit

Vrajapura, the residence of Nanda Mahārāja, was fully decorated with varieties of festoons and flags, and in different places, gates were made with varieties of flower garlands, pieces of cloth, and mango leaves. The courtyards, the gates near the roads, and everything within the rooms of the houses were perfectly swept and washed with water. ।। 10-5-6 ।।

english translation

नन्द महाराज का निवास व्रजपुर रंग-बिरंगी झंडियों तथा झंडों से पूरी तरह सजाया गया था और विभिन्न स्थानों पर नाना प्रकार के फूलों की मालाओं, वस्त्रों तथा आम की पत्तियों से तोरण बनाए गए थे। आँगन, सडक़ों के पास के दरवाजे तथा घरों के कमरों के भीतर की सारी वस्तुएँ अच्छी तरह से झाड़ बुहार कर पानी से धोई गई थीं। ।। १०-५-६ ।।

गावो वृषा वत्सतरा हरिद्रातैलरूषिताः । विचित्रधातुबर्हस्रग्वस्त्रकाञ्चनमालिनः ।। १०-५-७ ।।

sanskrit

The cows, the bulls and the calves were thoroughly smeared with a mixture of turmeric and oil, mixed with varieties of minerals. Their heads were bedecked with peacock feathers, and they were garlanded and covered with cloth and golden ornaments. ।। 10-5-7 ।।

english translation

गौवों, बैलों तथा बछड़ों के सारे शरीर में हल्दी तथा तेल के साथ नाना प्रकार के खनिजों का लेप किया गया था। उनके मस्तकों को मोर पंखों से सजाया गया था, उन्हें मालाएँ पहनाई गई थीं और ऊपर से वस्त्र तथा सुनहरे गहनों से आच्छादित किया गया था। ।। १०-५-७ ।।

महार्हवस्त्राभरणकञ्चुकोष्णीषभूषिताः । गोपाः समाययू राजन् नानोपायनपाणयः ।। १०-५-८ ।।

sanskrit

O King Parīkṣit, the cowherd men dressed very opulently with valuable ornaments and garments such as coats and turbans. Decorated in this way and carrying various presentations in their hands, they approached the house of Nanda Mahārāja. ।। 10-5-8 ।।

english translation

हे राजा परीक्षित, ग्वाले अत्यन्त मूल्यवान गहने तथा कंचुक और पगड़ी जैसे वस्त्रों से खूब सजे-धजे थे। इस तरह से सजधज कर तथा अपने हाथों में तरह-तरह की भेंटें लेकर वे नन्द महाराज के घर आए। ।। १०-५-८ ।।

गोप्यश्चाकर्ण्य मुदिता यशोदायाः सुतोद्भवम् । आत्मानं भूषयाञ्चक्रुर्वस्त्राकल्पाञ्जनादिभिः ।। १०-५-९ ।।

sanskrit

The gopī wives of the cowherd men were very pleased to hear that mother Yaśodā had given birth to a son, and they began to decorate themselves very nicely with proper dresses, ornaments, black ointment for the eyes, and so on. ।। 10-5-9 ।।

english translation

गोपियाँ यह सुनकर अत्यधिक प्रसन्न थीं कि माता यशोदा ने पुत्र को जन्म दिया है, अत: वे उपयुक्त वस्त्रों, गहनों, काजल आदि से अपने को सजाने लगीं। ।। १०-५-९ ।।

नवकुङ्कुमकिञ्जल्कमुखपङ्कजभूतयः । बलिभिस्त्वरितं जग्मुः पृथुश्रोण्यश्चलत्कुचाः ।। १०-५-१० ।।

sanskrit

Their lotuslike faces extraordinarily beautiful, being decorated with saffron and newly grown kuṅkuma, the wives of the cowherd men hurried to the house of mother Yaśodā with presentations in their hands. Because of natural beauty, the wives had full hips and full breasts, which moved as they hurried along. ।। 10-5-10 ।।

english translation

अपने कमल जैसे असाधारण सुन्दर मुखों को केसर तथा नव-विकसित कुंकुम से अलंकृत करके गोपियाँ अपने हाथों में भेंटें लेकर माता यशोदा के घर के लिए तेजी से चल पड़ीं। प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य के कारण उनके नितम्ब बड़े-बड़े थे तथा तेजी से चलने के कारण उनके बड़े-बड़े स्तन हिल रहे थे। ।। १०-५-१० ।।
