वर्णास्त्रयः किलास्यासन् गृह्णतोऽनुयुगं तनूः । शुक्लो रक्तस्तथा पीत इदानीं कृष्णतां गतः ।। १०-२६-१६ ।।

sanskrit

[Garga Muni had said:] Your son Kṛṣṇa appears as an incarnation in every millennium. In the past He assumed three different colors — white, red and yellow — and now He has appeared in a blackish color. ।। 10-26-16 ।।

english translation

[गर्ग मुनि ने कहा था]: आपका पुत्र कृष्ण हर युग में अवतार के रूप में प्रकट होता है। भूतकाल में उसने तीन रंग—श्वेत, लाल तथा पीला धारण किये थे और अब वह श्यामवर्ण में प्रकट हुआ है। ।। १०-२६-१६ ।।

प्रागयं वसुदेवस्य क्वचिज्जातस्तवात्मजः । वासुदेव इति श्रीमानभिज्ञाः सम्प्रचक्षते ।। १०-२६-१७ ।।

sanskrit

For many reasons, this beautiful son of yours sometimes appeared previously as the son of Vasudeva. Therefore, those who are learned sometimes call this child Vāsudeva. ।। 10-26-17 ।।

english translation

अनेक कारणों से आपका यह सुन्दर पुत्र कभी वसुदेव के पुत्र रूप में प्रकट हो चुका है। अतएव विद्वज्जन कभी कभी इस बालक को वासुदेव कहते हैं। ।। १०-२६-१७ ।।

prAgayaM vasudevasya kvacijjAtastavAtmajaH | vAsudeva iti zrImAnabhijJAH sampracakSate || 10-26-17 ||

For this son of yours there are many forms and names according to His transcendental qualities and activities. These are known to me, but people in general do not understand them. ।। 10-26-18 ।।

english translation

तुम्हारे इस पुत्र के अपने दिव्य गुणों तथा कर्मों के अनुसार अनेक रूप तथा नाम हैं। मैं उन्हें जानता हूँ किन्तु सामान्य जन उन्हें नहीं समझते। ।। १०-२६-१८ ।।

bahUni santi nAmAni rUpANi ca sutasya te | guNakarmAnurUpANi tAnyahaM veda no janAH || 10-26-18 ||

एष वः श्रेय आधास्यद्गोपगोकुलनन्दनः । अनेन सर्वदुर्गाणि यूयमञ्जस्तरिष्यथ ।। १०-२६-१९ ।।

sanskrit

To increase the transcendental bliss of the cowherd men of Gokula, this child will always act auspiciously for you. And by His grace only, you will surpass all difficulties. ।। 10-26-19 ।।

english translation

गोकुल के ग्वालों के दिव्य आनन्द में वृद्धि करने के लिए यह बालक सदैव तुम सबका कल्याण करेगा। और उसकी कृपा से ही तुम लोग सारे कष्टों को पार कर सकोगे। ।। १०-२६-१९ ।।

पुरानेन व्रजपते साधवो दस्युपीडिताः । अराजके रक्ष्यमाणा जिग्युर्दस्यून् समेधिताः ।। १०-२६-२० ।।

sanskrit

O Nanda Mahārāja, as recorded in history, when there was an irregular, incapable government, Indra having been dethroned, and when honest people were being harassed and disturbed by thieves, this child appeared in order to curb the rogues and to protect the people and enable them to flourish. ।। 10-26-20 ।।

english translation

हे नन्द महाराज, इतिहास में यह अंकित है कि जब अनियमित तथा अक्षम सरकार थी, जब इन्द्र को सिंहासन से उतार दिया गया था और जब ईमानदार लोग चोरों द्वारा सताये जा रहे थे तो यह बालक उचक्कों का दमन करने तथा लोगों की रक्षा करने और उन्हें फलने-फूलने योग्य बनाने के लिए प्रकट हुआ था। ।। १०-२६-२० ।।
