श्रीशुक उवाच हेमन्ते प्रथमे मासि नन्दव्रजकुमारिकाः । चेरुर्हविष्यं भुञ्जानाः कात्यायन्यर्चनव्रतम् ॥ १०-२२-१ ॥

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: During the first month of the winter season, the young unmarried girls of Gokula observed the vow of worshiping goddess Kātyāyanī. For the entire month they ate only unspiced khichrī. ॥ 10-22-1 ॥

english translation

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : हेमन्त ऋतु के पहले मास में गोकुल की अविवाहिता लड़कियों ने कात्यायनी देवी का पूजा-व्रत रखा। पूरे मास उन्होंने बिना मसाले की खिचड़ी खाई। ॥ १०-२२-१ ॥
