राजोवाच ब्रह्मन् कालान्तरकृतं तत्कालीनं कथं भवेत् । यत्कौमारे हरिकृतं जगुः पौगण्डकेऽर्भकाः ॥ १०-१२-४१ ॥
Mahārāja Parīkṣit inquired: O great sage, how could things done in the past have been described as being done at the present? Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa performed this pastime of killing Aghāsura during His kaumāra age. How then, during His paugaṇḍa age, could the boys have described this incident as having happened recently? ॥ 10-12-41 ॥

महाराज परीक्षित ने पूछा: हे मुनि, भूतकाल में घटित इन घटनाओं को वर्तमान में घटित होते क्यों वर्णन किया गया है? भगवान् कृष्ण ने अघासुर को मारने का कार्य तो अपनी कौमारावस्था में सम्पन्न किया था। तो फिर बालकों ने, उनकी पौगण्ड अवस्था में, इस घटना को अभी घटित क्यों बतलाया? ॥ १०-१२-४१ ॥
