अथाप्यभिभवन्त्येनं नैव ते घोरदर्शनाः । जिघांसयैनमासाद्य नश्यन्त्यग्नौ पतङ्गवत् ॥ १०-११-५६ ॥
Although the causes of death, the daityas, were very fierce, they could not kill this boy Kṛṣṇa. Rather, because they came to kill innocent boys, as soon as they approached they themselves were killed, exactly like flies attacking a fire. ॥ 10-11-56 ॥
english translation
यद्यपि मृत्यु के कारणरूप दैत्यगण अत्यन्त भयावने थे किन्तु वे इस बालक कृष्ण को मार नहीं पाये। चूँकि वे निर्दोष बालकों को मारने आये थे इसलिए ज्योंही वे उनके निकट पहुँचे त्योंही वे उसी तरह मारे गये जिस तरह अग्नि पर आक्रमण करने वाले पतङ्गे मारे जाते हैं। ॥ १०-११-५६ ॥
