    शासनात्तु नरेन्द्रस्य प्रययुः शीघ्रवाजिभिः । समानेतुं नरव्याघ्रं विष्णुमिन्द्राज्ञया यथा ॥ १-७०-६zAsanAttu narendrasya prayayuH zIghravAjibhiH । samAnetuM naravyAghraM viSNumindrAjJayA yathA ॥ 1-70-6In obedience to the command of Indra among men (king Janaka), the messengers rode away on swift horses to bring king Kusadhwaja, a tiger among men just like fetching Vishnu by the orders of Indra. ॥ 1-70-6॥

    एवमुक्ते तु वचने शतानंदस्य संनिधौ । आगताः केचिदव्यग्रा जनकस्तान् समादिशत् ॥ १-७०-५evamukte tu vacane zatAnaMdasya saMnidhau । AgatAH kecidavyagrA janakastAn samAdizat ॥ 1-70-5That way when Janaka asseverated that enunciation in the presence of Shataananda, then some alacritous envoys came, whom Janaka ordered to proceed to his brother. ॥ 1-70-5॥

    तमहं द्रष्टुमिच्छामि यज्ञगोप्ता स मे मतः । प्रीतिं सोऽपि महातेजा इमां भोक्ता मया सह ॥ १-७०-४tamahaM draSTumicchAmi yajJagoptA sa me mataH । prItiM so'pi mahAtejA imAM bhoktA mayA saha ॥ 1-70-4And I wish to see him, as he is the nominated benefactor of this Vedic-ritual of mine, and he too shall become a rejoicer in partaking the joyousness of this marriage . ' ( So said Janaka to Shataananda ). ॥ 1-70-4॥

    वार्या फलकपर्यन्तां पिबन्निक्षुमतीं नदीम् । सांकाश्यां पुण्यसंकाशां विमानमिव पुष्पकम् ॥ १-७०-३vAryA phalakaparyantAM pibannikSumatIM nadIm । sAMkAzyAM puNyasaMkAzAM vimAnamiva puSpakam ॥ 1-70-3- which city is surrounded by River Ikshumati as a natural moat, in which moat bastions of tridents are staked all around . and my brother presides over that city as if he is sitting in the Pushpaka aircraft and as though supping ( the sugarcane juice-like ) water of River Ikshumati . ॥ 1-70-3॥

    भ्राता मम महातेजा यवीयानतिधार्मिकः । कुशध्वज इति ख्यातः पुरीमध्यवसच्छुभाम् ॥ १-७०-२bhrAtA mama mahAtejA yavIyAnatidhArmikaH । kuzadhvaja iti khyAtaH purImadhyavasacchubhAm ॥ 1-70-2- 'The extremely righteous, renowned and most brilliant Kusadhwaja, my younger brother is (at present) ruling the sacred kingdom of Sankasya - ॥ 1-70-2॥

    ततः प्रभाते जनकः कृतकर्मा महर्षिभिः । उवाच वाक्यं वाक्यज्ञः शतानंदं पुरोहितम् ॥ १-७०-१tataH prabhAte janakaH kRtakarmA maharSibhiH । uvAca vAkyaM vAkyajJaH zatAnaMdaM purohitam ॥ 1-70-1Then on the next day morning after getting the daily ritual performed through sages, he that articulator Janaka articulated this to sage Shataananda, his royal priest ॥ 1-70-1॥

    उवास परमप्रीतो जनकेन सुपूजितः । जनकोऽपि महातेजाः क्रियां धर्मेण तत्त्ववित् । यज्ञस्य च सुताभ्यां च कृत्वा रात्रिमुवास ह ॥ १-६९-१९uvAsa paramaprIto janakena supUjitaH । janako'pi mahAtejAH kriyAM dharmeNa tattvavit । yajJasya ca sutAbhyAM ca kRtvA rAtrimuvAsa ha ॥ 1-69-19- wellhonoured by Janaka, he spent the night with supreme satisfaction. Even the great-resplendent Janaka on performing ritual acts according to scriptures for the Vedic-ritual on hand and the preparatory rituals for handing out both of his daughters in marriage, went into the sleep. ॥ 1-69-19॥

    विश्वामित्रं पुरस्कृत्य पितुः पादावुपस्पृशन् । राजा च राघवौ पुत्रौ निशाम्य परिहर्षितः ॥ १-६९-१८vizvAmitraM puraskRtya pituH pAdAvupaspRzan । rAjA ca rAghavau putrau nizAmya pariharSitaH ॥ 1-69-18- keeping Vishvamitra ahead, strutted to touch the feet of his father Dasharatha. The king (Dasharatha) was greatly delighted on beholding his sons Raghava-s ( Rama and Lakshmana ), ॥ 1-69-18॥

    हर्षेण महता युक्तास्तां निशामवसन् सुखम् । अथ रामो महातेजा लक्ष्मणेन समं ययौ ॥ १-६९-१७harSeNa mahatA yuktAstAM nizAmavasan sukham । atha rAmo mahAtejA lakSmaNena samaM yayau ॥ 1-69-17- filled with great delight spent the night comfortably. Then that most brilliant Rama with Lakshmana, strutting in step - ॥ 1-69-17॥

    श्रुत्वा विदेहाधिपतिः परं विस्मयमागतः । ततः सर्वे मुनिगणाः परस्परसमागमे ॥ १-६९-१६zrutvA videhAdhipatiH paraM vismayamAgataH । tataH sarve munigaNAH parasparasamAgame ॥ 1-69-16- on listening that, the king of Videha ( King Janaka ) was filled with extreme admiration. Thereupon hosts of sages in one another's company - ॥ 1-69-16॥
