    हंसस्वरूप्यवददच्युत आत्मयोगं दत्तः कुमार ऋषभो भगवान् पिता नः । विष्णुः शिवाय जगतां कलयावतिर्णस्तेनाहृता मधुभिदा श्रुतयो हयास्ये ॥ ११-४-१७ ॥haMsasvarUpyavadadacyuta AtmayogaM dattaH kumAra RSabho bhagavAn pitA naH । viSNuH zivAya jagatAM kalayAvatirNastenAhRtA madhubhidA zrutayo hayAsye ॥ 11-4-17 ॥The infallible Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, has descended into this world by His various partial incarnations such as Lord Haṁsa ॥ the swan॥, Dattātreya, the four Kumāras and our own father, the mighty Ṛṣabhadeva. By such incarnations, the Lord teaches the science of self-realization for the benefit of the whole universe. In His appearance as Hayagrīva He killed the demon Madhu and thus brought the Vedas back from the hellish planet Pātālaloka. ॥ 11-4-17 ॥

One who desires to faithfully serve His lotus feet should hear of the activities He performs in each of these incarnations — activities that suitably imitate those of the forms He assumes. Hearing narrations of these pastimes destroys the reactions to fruitive work. ॥ 10-90-49 ॥

    स्त्रीधनानि तु ये मोहादुपजीवन्ति बान्धवाः । नारीयानानि वस्त्रं वा ते पापा यान्त्यधोगतिम् ॥ ५२ ॥strIdhanAni tu ye mohAdupajIvanti bAndhavAH । nArIyAnAni vastraM vA te pApA yAntyadhogatim ॥ 52 ॥But those (male) relations who, in their folly, live on the separate property of women, (e.g. appropriate) the beasts of burden, carriages, and clothes of women, commit sin and will sink into hell.

    द्युपतय एव ते न ययुरन्तमनन्ततया त्वमपि यदन्तराण्डनिचया ननु सावरणाः । ख इव रजांसि वान्ति वयसा सह यच्छ्रुतयः त्वयि हि फलन्त्यतन्निरसनेन भवन्निधनाः ॥ १०-८७-४१ ॥dyupataya eva te na yayurantamanantatayA tvamapi yadantarANDanicayA nanu sAvaraNAH । kha iva rajAMsi vAnti vayasA saha yacchrutayaH tvayi hi phalantyatannirasanena bhavannidhanAH ॥ 10-87-41 ॥Because You are unlimited, neither the lords of heaven nor even You Yourself can ever reach the end of Your glories. The countless universes, each enveloped in its shell, are compelled by the wheel of time to wander within You, like particles of dust blowing about in the sky. The śrutis, following their method of eliminating everything separate from the Supreme, become successful by revealing You as their final conclusion. ॥ 10-87-41 ॥

    स यदजया त्वजामनुशयीत गुणांश्च जुषन् भजति सरूपतां तदनु मृत्युमपेतभगः । त्वमुत जहासि तामहिरिव त्वचमात्तभगो महसि महीयसेऽष्टगुणितेऽपरिमेयभगः ॥ १०-८७-३८ ॥sa yadajayA tvajAmanuzayIta guNAMzca juSan bhajati sarUpatAM tadanu mRtyumapetabhagaH । tvamuta jahAsi tAmahiriva tvacamAttabhago mahasi mahIyase'STaguNite'parimeyabhagaH ॥ 10-87-38 ॥The illusory material nature attracts the minute living entity to embrace her, and as a result he assumes forms composed of her qualities. Subsequently, he loses all his spiritual qualities and must undergo repeated deaths. You, however, avoid the material energy in the same way that a snake abandons its old skin. Glorious in Your possession of eight mystic perfections, You enjoy unlimited opulences. ॥ 10-87-38 ॥

    धर्मार्थौ यत्र न स्यातां शुश्रूषा वाऽपि तद्विधा । तत्र विद्या न वप्तव्या शुभं बीजमिवौषरे ॥ ११२ ॥dharmArthau yatra na syAtAM zuzrUSA vA'pi tadvidhA । tatra vidyA na vaptavyA zubhaM bIjamivauSare ॥ 112 ॥Where merit and wealth are not (obtained by teaching) nor (at least) due obedience, in such (soil) sacred knowledge must not be sown, just as good seed (must) not (be thrown) on barren land.

    श्रीशुक उवाच इति तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा वसुदेवो महामनाः । तान् ऋषीन् ऋत्विजो वव्रे मूर्ध्नाऽऽनम्य प्रसाद्य च ॥ १०-८४-४२ ॥zrIzuka uvAca iti tadvacanaM zrutvA vasudevo mahAmanAH । tAn RSIn Rtvijo vavre mUrdhnA''namya prasAdya ca ॥ 10-84-42 ॥Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: After hearing these statements of the sages, generous Vasudeva bowed his head to the ground and, praising them, requested them to become his priests. ॥ 10-84-42 ॥
