    यमावुतस्वित्तनयौ पृथायाः पार्थैर्वृतौ पक्ष्मभिरक्षिणीव । रेमात उद्दाय मृधे स्वरिक्थं परात्सुपर्णाविव वज्रिवक्त्रात् ।। ३-१-३९ ।।yamAvutasvittanayau pRthAyAH pArthairvRtau pakSmabhirakSiNIva | remAta uddAya mRdhe svarikthaM parAtsuparNAviva vajrivaktrAt || 3-1-39 ||Are the twin brothers who are protected by their brothers doing well? Just as the eye is always protected by the eyelid, they are protected by the sons of Pṛthā, who snatched back their rightful kingdom from the hands of their enemy Duryodhana, just as Garuḍa snatched nectar from the mouth of Indra, the thunderbolt carrier. ।। 3-1-39 ।।

He once satisfied Lord Śiva by covering him with arrows when Śiva came as an unidentified false hunter. ।। 3-1-38 ।।

    किं वा कृताघेष्वघमत्यमर्षी भीमोऽहिवद्दीर्घतमं व्यमुञ्चत् । यस्याङ्घ्रिपातं रणभूर्न सेहे मार्गं गदायाश्चरतो विचित्रम् ।। ३-१-३७ ।।kiM vA kRtAgheSvaghamatyamarSI bhImo'hivaddIrghatamaM vyamuJcat | yasyAGghripAtaM raNabhUrna sehe mArgaM gadAyAzcarato vicitram || 3-1-37 ||[Please tell me] whether the unconquerable Bhīma, who is like a cobra, has released his long-cherished anger upon the sinners? The field of battle could not tolerate even the wonderful playing of his club when he stepped on the path. ।। 3-1-37 ।।

    अपि स्वदोर्भ्यां विजयाच्युताभ्यां धर्मेण धर्मः परिपाति सेतुम् । दुर्योधनोऽतप्यत यत्सभायां साम्राज्यलक्ष्म्या विजयानुवृत्त्या ।। ३-१-३६ ।।api svadorbhyAM vijayAcyutAbhyAM dharmeNa dharmaH paripAti setum | duryodhano'tapyata yatsabhAyAM sAmrAjyalakSmyA vijayAnuvRttyA || 3-1-36 ||Also let me inquire whether Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira is now maintaining the kingdom according to religious principles and with respect for the path of religion. Formerly Duryodhana was burning with envy because Yudhiṣṭhira was being protected by the arms of Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna as if they were his own arms. ।। 3-1-36 ।।

    अपिस्विदन्ये च निजात्मदैवमनन्यवृत्त्या समनुव्रता ये । हृदीकसत्यात्मजचारुदेष्णगदादयः स्वस्ति चरन्ति सौम्य ।। ३-१-३५ ।।apisvidanye ca nijAtmadaivamananyavRttyA samanuvratA ye | hRdIkasatyAtmajacArudeSNagadAdayaH svasti caranti saumya || 3-1-35 ||O sober one, others, such as Hṛdīka, Cārudeṣṇa, Gada and the son of Satyabhāmā, who accept Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa as the soul of the self and thus follow His path without deviation — are they well? ।। 3-1-35 ।।

    अपिस्विदास्ते भगवान्सुखं वो यः सात्वतां कामदुघोऽनिरुद्धः । यमामनन्ति स्म ह शब्दयोनिं मनोमयं सत्त्वतुरीयतत्त्वम् ।। ३-१-३४ ।।apisvidAste bhagavAnsukhaM vo yaH sAtvatAM kAmadugho'niruddhaH | yamAmananti sma ha zabdayoniM manomayaM sattvaturIyatattvam || 3-1-34 ||May I inquire whether Aniruddha is doing well? He is the fulfiller of all the desires of the pure devotees and has been considered from yore to be the cause of the Ṛg Veda, the creator of the mind and the fourth plenary expansion of Viṣṇu. ।। 3-1-34 ।।

    कच्चिच्छिवं देवकभोजपुत्र्या विष्णुप्रजाया इव देवमातुः । या वै स्वगर्भेण दधार देवं त्रयी यथा यज्ञवितानमर्थम् ।। ३-१-३३ ।।kaccicchivaM devakabhojaputryA viSNuprajAyA iva devamAtuH | yA vai svagarbheNa dadhAra devaM trayI yathA yajJavitAnamartham || 3-1-33 ||As the Vedas are the reservoir of sacrificial purposes, so the daughter of King Devaka-bhoja conceived the Supreme Personality of Godhead in her womb, as did the mother of the demigods. Is she [Devakī] doing well? ।। 3-1-33 ।।

    कच्चिद्बुधः स्वस्त्यनमीव आस्ते श्वफल्कपुत्रो भगवत्प्रपन्नः । यः कृष्णपादाङ्कितमार्गपांसुष्वचेष्टत प्रेमविभिन्नधैर्यः ।। ३-१-३२ ।।kaccidbudhaH svastyanamIva Aste zvaphalkaputro bhagavatprapannaH | yaH kRSNapAdAGkitamArgapAMsuSvaceSTata premavibhinnadhairyaH || 3-1-32 ||Please tell me whether Akrūra, the son of Śvaphalka, is doing well. He is a faultless soul surrendered unto the Personality of Godhead. He once lost his mental equilibrium due to his ecstasy of transcendental love and fell down on the dust of a road which was marked with the footprints of Lord Kṛṣṇa. ।। 3-1-32 ।।

    क्षेमं स कच्चिद्युयुधान आस्ते यः फाल्गुनाल्लब्धधनूरहस्यः । लेभेऽञ्जसाधोक्षजसेवयैव गतिं तदीयां यतिभिर्दुरापाम् ।। ३-१-३१ ।।kSemaM sa kaccidyuyudhAna Aste yaH phAlgunAllabdhadhanUrahasyaH | lebhe'JjasAdhokSajasevayaiva gatiM tadIyAM yatibhirdurApAm || 3-1-31 ||O Uddhava, does Yuyudhāna fare well? He learned the intricacies of the military art from Arjuna and attained the transcendental destination which is very difficult to reach even for great renouncers. ।। 3-1-31 ।।

    कच्चिद्धरेः सौम्य सुतः सदृक्ष आस्तेऽग्रणी रथिनां साधु साम्बः । असूत यं जाम्बवती व्रताढ्या देवं गुहं योंऽबिकया धृतोऽग्रे ।। ३-१-३० ।।kacciddhareH saumya sutaH sadRkSa Aste'graNI rathinAM sAdhu sAmbaH | asUta yaM jAmbavatI vratADhyA devaM guhaM yoM'bikayA dhRto'gre || 3-1-30 ||O gentle one, does Sāmba fare well? He exactly resembles the son of the Personality of Godhead. In a previous birth he was born as Kārttikeya in the womb of the wife of Lord Śiva, and now he has been born in the womb of Jāmbavatī, the most enriched wife of Kṛṣṇa. ।। 3-1-30 ।।
